Hey bro... I would use the cool tube. I know the reflector isn't all that futuristic looking. but I think it would give a wider field of light. The enclosure seems to narrow the light a bit, so you would need to raise it higher or lower to adjust the width of the field, where the cooltube you just keep the same place and adjust the reflector.
Plus the cool tube seems like it could light strait out to the sides if the plants got kinds close. I mean if you had the plants 8" off the enclosure vs. 8" off the cooltube the enclosure would shade the very sides (i would imagine) where as the cool tube could basically light strait 'out'.
Plus I would imagine the cool tube to cool slightly better without the extra resistance, making it better for the bigger light and able to get it closet to the monster nugs you will have.
There you are. 1 vote for the cooltube.
Well I can get the cooltube about 12" for the plant tops with no stress.
At 10", I start to get some heat stress spots.
And see, I am not sure the cooltube gives a "wider" amout of light.
The reflector wings extend the light in terms of depth, but not length...
I have no doubt it cools better...I just feel like the Sun System has the same depth coverage, but might have more coverage length wise.
Keep em comin Jig...It helps a lot!
looking at my trays I feel that the cool sun reflector gives me a more even coverage than the cool tube...
I see the light print of the reflector as square... and the cool tube as a long rectangle... I feel the metal collars block a lot of light in that axis...
But ultimately, it's up to you to look at it and see if there is much of a difference...
In your space, I doubt it...
AND Jig was right in saying that the tube cools more efficiently than the reflector...
I think this will be a personal choice...
But if you are going with a 4x4 tray and an even canopy...
I
would vote for the reflector
if I knew it works as well as mine, but
we have different models...
This is what I have..

They are practically the same thing IMO.
I just feel like the cooltube loses a lot of unreflected light near the ends (where the ducting would be)
I just don't know. I guess I will have to do the work and measure the light print to TRUELY know, no?
Thanks for your help guys. I still don't know what to think for sure...
Do either of you two think one would make any SIGNIFICANT difference over the other?
I can snap some pics if needed for clarity or whatever...
I am gonna put the HPS bulb in today, so if I am gonna make a switch....today is the day...
