\I know this isnt exactly amazing but hey this is newbie central. I got a little seed to sprout!

From the seed, it took only a day to germinate a long root, then the next day (aftr planted) there is already a little tip popping out of the soil!!

:) Id have a pic here but idk how to do that. Oh man whats next!

UPDATE!! I now have a little seedling. . . .very very tiny! But here is essentially a 12 hour by 12 hour result... so far...

Congrats!

But I'm afraid It's all downhill from here, over watering, then brown leaves, then over fertilization, followed by nute burn, and over watering exacerbated by repeated flashing's lol then hermaphrodism, and finally death

Just kidding

Good luck

a light timer isnt all that important, but remembering times and being home to turn off the lights can be a hassle, speaking of, what are you using for light?

to avoid over watering you should use the finger test. to know when to water, dig your finger in inch or two into the soil around the edge of the pot to fell how dry it is. the #1 noob mistake is overwatering. just remember its a plant and will grow regardless of how you tent to it (to a point), it has everything it needs to grow in the cotyledons(round club leafs) so it wont need any nutrients for atleast a month or when those leafs fall off

any questions?

Timers are relatively cheap. If you choose to use one make sure it can support the amount of juice you will be pulling. If your are a forgetful stoner like me, it's one of the best investments you can make. Best of luck my friend.

yea I figured all that... I don't plan on using many nutes at all but at this rate I'm going to have a very vibrant plant. I am using a fluorescent desklamp. It's very brght but compact (actually it was bought for me by mom for my dorm room freshman yr lol) umm.. ya and my closet has a white backside (lucky me!) Right now tho they're getting fresh sunlight from an open window (but u can't see it from the outside because it's actually on the desk :P) umm

How wet should the soil be?
Will a timer work for a desktop lamp? (theoretically I'm assuming yes)

I just wanna let you know I now have a little tiny seedling... very tiny.. 2 cotyledon leafs and 2 very very very tiny true leafs. It looks very small... the whole thing is the fifth the size of my thumb.... :S

Congrats. Relax, don't get too excited and over react. Take it slow. It won't need nutes for a while. First few weeks won't be much cause it's growing roots. Then in a few weeks the leaves will take off. Give it light nutes after a couple leaves, if you don't use soil with nutes in it. Happy growing!!

Haha GreenCross unfortunately that is very true, but don't worry the pain in the ass is totally worth it!(so if I think its worth it and my plant is 6 days old then I wonder what my opinion will be after harvest )

yea dude you can definitely just turn off the lights (thats what I did for the first 4 days) but trust me when I say this, a light timer is totally worth it (you can find one for like 4 bucks). also Nutes are the one thing you should invest in if ur not investing in anything else than light

Little seedling growing... currently receiving BOTH sunlight and a CFL...

Q: Is a cfl necessary if its getting sunlight through my window? (I just want it really bright but im wondering if sunlight alone is okay because its not outside and its through glass)
