Reservoirs, the do's and don'ts?

Due to my size constraints, I've had to settle for a clear reservoir. From what I have read a clear reservoir is not a wise decision as the light leads to algae growth and other bacterias. Is this true? And if so what are some efficient solutions to this problem? Money is a factor. I saw 'abudsmoker' using a clear reservoir and this is what has me asking this question.

Clear res's will almost 100% lead to algae once you add nutrients too it.

Get some black garbage sacks and cover it up.

Great idea! That is what I am after, something cheap quick and does the job! thanks!!

Any black garbage bag will do? Or something specific? Maybe a thickness?

Trash bag is much easier, trust someone who has tried both and used a whole can of spray paint and got no where.
