Kicked out of a local hydroponics store!

Being a first time grower, my 22" plant has been in flowering for 4 days now. After reading up on nutes to use during this stage, I decided to head on over to the local Gardener's Hydroponics.

I had a list of the things I wanted, but the way this store was laid out, it was hard to find anything. The store clerk was a chunky "white" guy with glasses... this is Florida, that should have spelled trouble then and there. Without trying to reveal my intentions, I was asking for the specific nutes I had recorded, and almost immediately he went from friendly to suspicious.

He asked me what plant I was trying to grow, and, me being the unprepared idiot that I am,had no idea what to tell him other than "Morning Glories". He told me literally to get the "f" out of the store. I was already slightly nervous from him catching me by surprise from before, so I just left. It was humiliating to say the least, and I would have cussed him out but I really did not want to argue over whether or not I was growing weed in front of other customers.

For those of you who are new, learn from my mistake. Have a plan if you need help with anything in a hydroponics store. Of course, this is all just common sense, but everyone makes mistakes.

My local store is the opposite, luckily. No one asks what you are growing because they know or they don't care.

Wow, that's terrible. I would call the manager and have a few words with him. The items they sell are legal for growing plants...he can't throw you out because he thinks you were going to use it to grow pot. You said morning glories...so what? Maybe you're an idiot and don't know how to grow morning glories...he should have suggested some nutrients better suited to doing that, not said "get the fuck out".

They are a business, and last time I checked businesses need patrons. You came in with a list of specific items you required...it's none of his business what you are trying to grow with it, and he certainly can't treat a potential paying customer with a LIST OF ITEMS like that.

I'd get his ass fired. Really. I'm sure the manager will the love part about how you were ready to drop some $$$ in his store before being rudely thrown out.

That's a good point...but isn't it legal to grow morning glories? Again, what you plan on doing with the nutrients is none of their business. They can't just ASSUME you are going to extract LSD from your morning glories, just like they can't ASSUME you are buying nutrients to grow pot.

Tomatoes are the gold standard though...always go with tomatoes or other veggies like peppers, squash, etc.

Well i give you credit for just leaving. If someone said that to me I would have flipped out. You should go back and make a point to get some sort of store credit or discount for your distress. If they still give you a hard time....get creative. Hydro stores in cali dont have that issue, weed growers cash keep thier doors open.

Thanks for the replies all. I think if I were to replay the incident over again, I would have told him to fuck off. I guess when your in the heat of the moment and nervous as hell, you don't think of these things right off the bat. And... it seems I learn something new everyday, I didn't know you could extract lsd from Morning glories. Next time I'll say tomatoes and avoid all of the frustration lawl....

It's LSA not LSD from morning glorys. Also that is just crazy. My local store has known for sure what people I was with were growing, but all they did was keep referring to everything as tomatoes and just try to sell us some fertilizers. Screw that shop though man, don't give money to people that shitty anyway.

they have the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason.......sucks but its true.

My shop is awesome. I was trying to explain why my "tomatoes" were under the weather and I felt like I was talking to someone of the likes of FDD.

He instantly asked my PH level and that "Tomatoes" need to be between 6.0 -6.5

and then Referred me to some Explosive "fruiting" nutes.

I learned not to say flowering.

Most of the hydro stores I think know what's going on. Other than having to have waited in line for 30 minutes to get my stuff on my first visit. . . it was very pleasant. I was dressed in business casual which seemed odd but there was a much older man, about 65 years old that was dressed nice too and he was buying the same kind of stuff. It was strange as hell. When I got to the counter the clerk suggested a few other things I might need aside from what I was getting and he didn't go crazy with overselling either.
