LED's, Doing another Test with a Different Company!

Some of you remember we did a test run with Sunshine-Systems LED's. They worked out great by the way!

Anyhow I just wanted to give these guys some love since they are pretty new.. We have been testing the Cougar and the Jaguar Type R for the past two months and they are stellar! We have already worked it out with "JBB" to release the photos publicly in the near future with his press promotions.

We are all scientists here so.... enjoy 8)

Interesting, well... here is a grow using 4, 126W LED's made by Hydro-Grow-LED (504w) over a 2' x 4' aeroponic tray. Most of the plants are at 5 weeks into bloom. The lights were designed specifically for marijuana. It should make for an interesting comparison. bongsmilie

All LED Grow Lights are made differently (except for a lot of the cookie-cutter ones you find on eBay). Most companies use 120 degree LED's. Some mix in 90 degree LED's with their 120's. Others (like the ones in my pictures) use 60 degree LED's. Some companies only give you 1 red, 1 blue. Some give you red/blue/white, others red/blue/orange, and for the more advanced models, they give you 2 reds, 2 blues, and something else. The lights in the pictures give you 440nm, 470nm, 640nm, 660nm, 3000k white, and 740nm IR. So are the lights in the pictures comparable to a HID, yes. Are others? I couldn't tell you, but from a lot of people's grow journals, it seems like a no. Anyhow, a 126W is comparable to a 400W HID, and you never replace bulbs or ballasts. With LED there is also no need for ventilation systems or A/C, and you'll never have lost or damaged crops due to heat stress from the lights.

quick question...don't mean to be jacking anyone's thread...I was debating on whether or not I should purchase a 90 watt LED to veg...then put them into my grow room...would 1 90 watt LED suffice for like 3-4 vegging plants?

It really depends on the efficacy of the 90W LED you would be getting. First you want to verify what wavelengths it uses. If the MFR doesn't post this data, or refuses to tell you, move to the next light. Marijuana uses 439nm, 469nm, 642nm, and 667nm for photosynthesis, and 439nm, 483nm for carotenoid function. You want to make sure that a light has at least the 4 main points for photosynthesis, and that the LED's are VERY close. Getting a 450nm LED because it's in between a 440nm and 470nm, is not going to give you anywhere near the same results as if you'd have used the 440nm and 470nm in combination. Anyhow, if you get a quality UFO, with the right spectral output, it should have no problem vegging your plants. The only problem most LED lights have is blooming, as they lack the penetrative ability of a 60 degree LED to carry light through your canopy.

Irishboy seems to be having pretty good luck with his! Not as cheap as the hydro-led tho at 400 bones. The thread is active in the forums. Under 90W led tri-band grow.
