If heat isn't an issue, go with the HPS. Although the T5s are nice because the plants can literally grow right into the lights and not get burned. I use T5s and CFLs specifically because I don't want to have to to cool my lights/room, although I am thinking about a HID light for my winter grow (specifically TO raise the temps in my room, LOL).

Those 4 and 8 bulb T5 fixtures look pretty sweet, though, so I might end up getting both =)

I have a 400w hps and a cfl setup and i can get buds just as dense with cfls as a can with hps, just not as big, but never fluffy, you should be scrogging or using LST on plants with fluorescent.

I dont believe you can get the same results with an hps as you can with cfl's. My question was specific to the t5's and not cfl's in general.

Alright... I know this isn't what you were looking for
but it is very close to the same thing you are doing.

Garden Knowm's Buds for Less thread...

Simply put... The thread gives you real experience
with CFL growing; I must insist that you look at T-5's
with the same, if not more, respect than CFLs.

Invest in the T5's and you can do what is done in
Garden Knowm's Buds for Less book.

Check it out.
All spectrum issues for CFLs apply to T-5's.

Good luck.
Thanks, man! - I use cfl's for sidelighting now and I follow Roseman, etal, on the Steath Hydroponics Threads. I see some kinda tight buds, but I see really tight buds (nugs) under hps. I dont hear much about t5's tho. The 4" with 4 bulbs just plugs in, so that's a big plus. But, I still want the tightest buds I can get without going over 400-600 watts, so I'm leaning that hps might be best for me as I read more stuff about different
bulbs. The 30% savings on utilities is a BIG temptation.
Still undecided tho....
