I was wondering when I should start flowering these. I don't have much room to grow in my setup, so when is the best time to start flowering to keep them short. Thanks
When your internodes start coming out at alternating points on the stem...that's when she tells you that she is ready and mature enough to produce her fruits!!

if you only have 8 inches......do LST, and bonzai it, meaning - see picture - or 12/12 i left a small plant in with my big plant on 12/12, its only like 5 inches, but its bushy as hell, and had it been a female would have been a nice bud
If I do LST, do I still switch to 12/12, or do I stay on 18/6? Which will be more effective, switching to 12/12 or doing LST? What is the reason behind LST? Thanks

LST is a good suggestion, but without a scrog approach with 12/12 almost from seed, 8'' is impossibly small. I would suggest scrog and 12/12 very early for this, its not possible to wait for maturity in veg with such a small space.

What exactly is scrog, I mean, I know its screen of green, but what does it mean, and how would I go about it?

I am not a scrog expert, but there is a great scrog page on grasscity forums. I won't link it because its external, but you can google how to scrog. Basically you weave the plant outwards along in a horizontal square net, the screen. As the side branches grow, you weave those too, and fill up the screen.
