about 45 minutes west on 90

tree, your best bet is a ph tester for like 20 bucks. you dip it, click it, and boom you know your exact ph. also, my keyboard is drying so i am using my onscreen keyboard... takes like 3 minutes to mouseclick 1 sentance

lmao, thank you, my wife made the graphic for it, that sprout hes leaning against was my first plant ;)
Yeah man I likes yer avatar 2. I was thinking about trying to add to the thread but that was all I could come up with, you guys already said it all hahah.

Please DO NOT use lemon juice (citric acid). It lowers the pH temporarily, but not for long.

I've found cider vinegar to the job just fine.

FYI-- I heard egg shells work, but as a base, which means it would raise PH, not lower it... (tried it myself and it seemed to have positive effects) ... Jus thought I'd comment on that ;)

whats up fellow illinois dwellers!

i only ph my water on a small basis (1 gallon jugs) but a few drips of regular white vinegar lowers the ph quite nicely and effectively.

Quote Treemansbuds " Hello All- 1st time grower here, I got a few issues i need help with. About the grow, ...Prop 215 Medical grow, 2 patients, outdoor, Sierra Nevada foothills in Ca, in the ground, artisan well. My Ph is running 7.5-7.7 out of the ground from my well, how do i adjust the Ph down using organic means? I vegged with Fox Farms Grow Big (i know not organic, my bad, 1st time grower) and Big Bloom last 3 weeks. I flushed the soil the last 2 waterings (skipping 2 days between waterings), and getting ready to start feeding BMO Tonic, then Flower Power the middle of August. I need to figure out a way to get that Ph down before I start feeding the BMO products.

Any Ideas? "

Treemansbuds.... The SPT will drive your pH down. Mix it in first and recheck a minute later. It will easily pull you down in the 6 range.
.
The GIG is acidic on it's own (low pH), the FH & FP are more alkaline (higher pH).
.
Given a choice, I prefer to balance pH of mixed up fertilizers, by using a small dose of the oposite type of fertilizer.
.
Example: Mixed up SPT & GIG (opps my pH is low - about 4.5) - add one teaspoon of Flower Power and up to 5.5
.
or
.
Mixed up FH & FP (opps my pH is high - about 7.5) - add one teaspoon of Grow it Green, and down to 6.5 it goes..... (SPT will also drop pH - just don't use more than the label recommends) Why you ask - you'll end up with massive growth & serious nute burn (literally overnight).
.
Hope this helps....
Keep it Real....Organic....

Baking soda (Sodium Bicarbonate) will raise pH, however you can have a salt buildup over time (the sodium). Use agricultural lime instead.

he said down so either ph down or some baking soda {ghetto}

dude, baking soda is a base, not an acid. when the PH is to high it means the soil is not acidic enough.

baking soda will make your PH problem worse, its used as organic PH-up. its what i use on my organic grows.

on ly organic grows i also use lemon juice, just straight up store bought lemon juice ans PH down. its a great organic addative.

to bring your PH DOWN add 1 FL oz lemon juice/gallon of water to bring the PH down a full point, EI 7.8 to 6.8.

PH UP use baking soda, 1 tsp/gallon of watter for same effect as lemon juice.

DO NOT USE LIME.

lime has to "cook" outside for a month or your plants will absorb amonia nitrates. if it does then your smoking amonia.

salt build up is easily dealt with compaired to amonia toxic plants, just flush the salt out of the soil with a good soaking of water. when the water runs through the pot clear theres no more salt.
