My 4x4 Indoor Grow Tent; Grow

just started my indoor grow..

right now im using a 4x4 grow tent with a 250w hydrofarm.

using floranova nutes w/happy frog soil

3 of the 5 of the aurora indica seeds i purchased from nirvana sprouted and are doing well. my other 3 are strawberry kush (got em from a friend.)

ill post up some pics when the internet at my home is up and running again - should be tonight?

I would lower the light a little bit, they look a little stretchy.
What brand tent are you using?

And i agree with tom, they are starting to get a little bit stretchy, just lower the light slightly

just moved the light closer as suggested. im gonna go tuesday and get another 250W & switch from MH to HPS bulbs - this will put me at a total of 500w.

im gonna have to come up with a new exhaust setup..

heres what im thinking - get squirrel fan & exhausting to a carbon filter - adding 2- 65 CFM intake fans which will come off my a/c unit duct to get some cool fresh air in and open some of the air ducts on the tent to get some real fresh air.

any input - please dont hesitate.

Yes those strawberries are looking light they will get very big

2 1/2" of growth on my strawberry #1 and 1 1/4" - 1 3/4" of growth on #2 & 3 from moving the light closer

my AI #1 & 2 are filling out a little more, but # 3 is still dragging behind

Wow nice! If they still are stretching after moving it close, go ahead and move it a little more, you want to get the most out of your light.

Also on your question about fimming the strawberries, the answer is yes they are big enough.

Wemp - thats good to hear about the fimming - im just to much of a puss to try it!

i noticed last night that there is some crispy brown-ness on some of my AI leaf tips, and on some of my strawberry leaves so i watered them with regular PH balanced water & im going to keep that up for a few days and see how they grow. got me a little worried about a slight nute burn.

for those who are wondering - im following the feeding schedule that came with my floranova nutes

i also added another fan into the mix & opened another flap on the tent. this lowered my temps by approx 5-7 degrees.

i also gotta get some cardboard boxes to make a platform for my AI's to move them closer. ive got the light down but I can only go so close to my strawberries.

Wow..

I owe you guys a huge thanks. Ever since moving the light closer - my AI's have exploded with bushy growth. Not too much of a height increase, but damn are they getting thick. Same with my strawberries. I've also transplanted everything into bigger pots.

On the downside - the top set of leaves on most of the plants have some slight curling on the edges. I'm going to say this is due to the heat in the tent (85 degrees @ 40-50% humidity). I've been using pure PH balanced water so I'm ruling out over-nute as well.

I have a small A/C unit at my disposal that I'm going to use and I'm going to rig up some duct work and blow A/C'd air right into the tent.

I'm also going to get some inline fans to exhaust the air. Come flowering, I'll get a carbon filter & probably that squirrel fan.

This should give me a decent air exchange rate.

You need to take the temps at where the actual plant canopy is as opposed to the generic heat in the tent - hard to tell without pics, but "brown crispy leaves" sure sound a lot like heat stress - even though it's 85 "in the tent", it could easily be 100+ where the top leaves are.

As an aside, instead of two 250s, I'd go with at least a 600, and preferably a 1000 watt for better penetration.

You misread my post, and its my fault for not being more clear.

An older issue I had, which was my fault was that I loaded them all up with nutes way too fast, and got a little bit of a burn. But that is on my 3rd/4th set of leaves. On new growth there is no browning.

My thermometer probe is right next to my canopy leaves, and is reading 85 degrees.

Anyway - the new growth isnt crispy, or brown. The edges are just slightly curled upwards.

Like bob said there bro, If you can afford to just get a 600w set up instead of another complete 250w set up you would be much better off. More intense light and can penetrate the canopy better.

Right now I'm running 1 air cooled 400w and 1 non air cooled 400w in my 4x4 sunhut with passive intake and forced air AC, the temps don't get over 78F day time, RH is right about 50%
If i was going to do duel lights again in my tent I'd personally drop 2, 600w air cooled fixtures with digi ballasts to remove the extra cost of conversion bulbs

Got my 4x4 Sun Hut put together, now I'm trying to figure the "guts" out........need to fit three inline fans and a donkey big reflector for my 1000 in there - I couldn't imagine going to two 600s and trying to fit all that equipment in there, that'd be murder.

Its a tight squeeze but I think I can fit another 6" inline and another air cooled 6" hood for next go around, I try to keep everything close to the top as possible and the fans in the corners, so I have more vertical room to move my lights up the chains. How ever instead of the lights being side by side, I'll be switching them to both inline with each other.

Here's how I've got mine set up right now

Nick: As for the "nute burn" on the leaves if there is no more signs of "nute burn" then I would start at 1/4 strength nutes and work up to full strength over time.

The leaves curling upwards on the edges sounds like heat stress. Do you have air blowing across the top of the canopy? Is your hood Air Cooled, and a general rule of thumb is... If you can put your hand under the light and its too hot for your hand, its more than likely too hot for your babies.

Ha me too, ive never had the guts to fim any of my plants, i only top lol.
Sorry to hear bout the nute burn, i always under feed my plants untill they are matured, but thats just me.
