Stealth Cabinet - Is this a good setup plan?

This is my first attempt at building a stealth cabinet, I've never grown anything before so this is all rather new to me. I've been working on plans for a couple weeks now and keep revamping them. So far I've purchased a small cabinet. It's 59h x 26w x 14d or so, not the biggest but it fills the space I can provide. I've still gotta remove the center shelf, finish sealing it, line with mylar install fans and carbon filter and I think i have the basics of building a cabinet down from all the fine folks here who have gone before me. Originally I was just going to hang some CFLs and do a two section tiny grow in each half of the box but recently decided on this setup.

150 watt HPS from http://www.bghydro.com/BGH/itemdesc.asp?ic=HLCSHPS015SS&eq=&Tp=

and using dwc from http://www.StealthHydroponics.com/product.php?xProd=48&xSec=53

In total I'd be spending about 370 dollars before nutrients and I guess what I'm mostly wondering is, is this a good setup to start with? Is my space too small to do those four plants focusing on the top cola production with lollipopping or even scrog/lst.

I still have to decide on a strain to focus on growing after I play around with some bag seed as well.

I'm up for any advice you guys out there may have for me before shell out the 'big bucks' and finish this build.

Thanks in advance.

Some people role play vampires on the internet. I rp as a lvl 1 gardener. :leaf:

Ive checked out SH Hydroponics website and almost went with that same DWC setup... bro i used that same system on my blueberry and lowrider grows but i made the DWC system myself.... get ready for your plants to grow REALLLLY BIG in a DWC setup... my blueberry got over 3 ft tall in 2 months and really bushy... it was fun while it lasted ... now im on a soil grow...

I went with the 150HPS that www.htgsupply.com had and it cost the same as yours and does a good job at making the plant stretch... if you need to know how to build ur own system then hit me up.. its very simple and u can get everything (except tote) from the htgsupply.com site... i dont work there but i was satisfied for my first grow experience

EDIT: DWC setup, airpump, rockwool, nutrients, ph & pph meter, ph +/- all cost me around 200 bucks (ruff estimate off top my head)

Did you use any training methods with that grow? I'll have about 3.5 feet of vertical space between the dwc tub and the lights/filter

I priced out building one of my own, but the cost came pretty close to the 35 bucks for the basic unit. I figure another 30 bucks for extra supplies isn't a bad to start off with and I'll have less plastic shavings to deal with :)

Since no one has told me I'm doing anything wrong yet, I'm gonna order the light and the rest of my building materials for the box tonight. I've been planning this for so long I'm getting kind of excited to get this started by the end of the month.

if you use a 150HPS then your plants going to stretch alot and fill that whole space... it wont take long for that whole 3.5 ft space to fill up.. did you take into consideration the size of the light.... it will take a foot or more of ur space... then the bucket at the bottom will take 1.5 ft apx of your space... i would step it up a notch and get a 250HPS/MH system so you can switch the bulbs out so that your plant stays shorter and more manageable

my bin is 9.125" and the light is about 7.5 with the hooks, i'm gonna veg with cfls to about 10-12" then couldn't I keep the hps light only a few inches above the plant to reduce stretching?

250 seems a bit much for 3 square feet to me.

it could work if you vegged with cfls .. i dont think a 250 is to much for your conditons.. although a 150HPS will work and is a good light for that amt of area ... a 250 would be a really good one for you to use... its the difference between unleaded and premium fuel.. you might not notice much difference at first but after a while you will see it

if you veg with cfls then id recommend using 8-20 cfls for a few plants until they either showed sex (if autoflowering) or until your ready to flower in 12/12 .. and thats when i would throw in the hps.. as long as you got good ventilation then you can keep it inches away from the tops of the plants
