That one is a timer and a contactor/relay. It will run 6 x 200Watt Envirolite Bulbs or One 600Watt HPS Ballast and Bulb.

I've been using it for months and never had any problems with it.

The whole regular timers burning out seems to depend on the electrics in your home. I burnt out 3 timers. A friend of mine has run 2x 600w set ups from a regular timer for months without any problems.

shit just go buy a defrost clock from any heating and cooling store and make sure you get it for the right voltage, works good and is simple to wire up and use

Its a very common problem and the simple way to overcome it for reliability is to use a contactor as said above, never known one to fail that way :-) I wouldnt worry too much about stress, just stick to your same schedule and switch your timer through a contactor ...everything will be fine.

Contactors ensure there are no timer failures due to the surge that occurs when a standard electronic ballast starts.
Each kw rating will provide protection for one 1000w lamp or lower.
An absolute must for all growers!

It could be either. I'm no electrician. I'm just going by what I've seen with my own two eyes.
