The Start of a Attic Grow Room

Well what do you guys think, i wish i would of taken some pics before i built the floor and sprayed the rafters with foam.
Originally attic had 2 feet of blown in insulation that i had to remove. Then there were about 100 wires and some pipes going across ceiling joist .Soi built up on top of joist to have a nice flat deck area to work off of. Now i have my plates down to build walls . Im going to have to move ac ductwork and plan on running one 8 inch ac line into new area with its own thermostat . Also plan on one 6 inch inline fan for fresh air and two 6 inch inline fans for air cooled light . Light will be 1000 watt on a light mover. Lots of work to do still but i hope to have everything done in next 2 weeks. Grow area will roughly be 13 feet long 7 feet 6 inch wide

I plan to start a grow room up in my attic also, I plan to put boards down tomorrow actually. I'm jealous of your attic space, looks like it has the potential to be a really nice grow area. Just out of curiosity what is the height of your attic from floor up, it appears to be a little short from the pictures taken. Also what was the purpose of spraying the attic ceiling with the foam stuff?

If you look in the pics u will see a broom in there ,i put it in there to give a height reference, the foam has turned my attic into and airconditioned area, the foam not only acts as insulation but it totally seals up the attic.now that its foamed my attic will stay about 10 degrees hotter than the temp in my house . The ac leking up from the inside of the house (through light fixtures, fans, etc..) will now cool the area

Gosh, that's a beatiful area bro. I developed some lower back pain building in my room about a third of that size, but since you have that spray insulation it should be a thermal barrier, and you should have a vent system in your attic already capable of venting out the hot air. It shouldn't get as hot in there anyway with the insulation on the direct opposite side of the roof shingles. Just consider tapping into a drain and adding a water line if you go hyro. I found some hidden areas of my house that might be good candidates for flourescents. What are you planning on growing with HID's in Soil?

Thanks Hwy420 .The foam will really cut down on the heat up there . It turns ur attic into a airconditioned space. i plan on using a 1000mh/hps light with a light mover.I currently am growing doing a hydro set up (ebb n flow) but up there i plan on doing smaller plants in soil. Ive always had good luck with soil and i really dont want to have a reservoir above my living room ceiling so ill probably do soil up there. I do plan on venting out the roof so it will be easy to get rid of the smell and in the winter time i might just draw some of the cold air from outside using a 6 inch inline fan. I dont have all of the details worked out yet but plan to by the end of the week

Plan on droppin them in some water tonight (pineapple express, white widow , blue widow, power kush)

Beautiful beautiful beautiful!!! Subscribed subscribed subscribed!!! Wow you've done a lot of work, and I commend you good sire. I wasn't able to get that much done in my room in 2 weeks it seems. I am a 9-5 job though lol.

It seems like the cheese is the first thing everyone runs out of, including myself. I originally had plans for 3-4 grand, but shot my budget and am in it 6 or 7 grand already and still don't have 3 grand of the original proposed equipment. :spew:Makes me sick lol.

I like your outlets in the ceiling, that's pretty slick. I'm thankful i'm not dead from my amateur electrician work.'

I took my clones about a week too early. Their roots were major entangled by the time I got them in the soil. Maybe I was just a week too lazy.

That's fucking awesome man--but will rerouting the a/c ducts compromise the efficiency of your ac?

I've wondered the same thing about my 12" insulated ducting. It said 12" diameter ducting, so I figured a 12" hole in the ceiling. WRONG, the insulated part is a few inches thick, so I really should've made a 14" hole or so. I constricted the insulation a little bit. You can see it in the picture, should I be concerned that this is the cause of my upstairs central HVAC freezing up?

Im very fortunate , ive been in construction for a looong time and have made some really close friends ( one being a real good electrician and the other a real good AC guy) if it werent for them i wouldnt and dont have the skills required to do the job. They set up my other grow area in the house 3 years ago. Ive known these guys for years and ive always got them work and i also hook them up with some nice nugs and some good jobs when they need it . The rest of it however i can handle on my own. Work has been slow lately and i decided to get a jump on this room for awhile. The hydro shop owner needs his dock boards replaced so tommorow im headed over to do that and ill get a store credit. All he knows is i need some lights ,fans, etc.. he dont ask me anything and i dont ask him anything . We are on a first name basis and my brothers been dealing with him for about 2.5 years. Once again thanks for all the great feedback. With a littlbe bit of luck ,trade offs and money im hoping to finish this thing

my AC buddy is coming over in a day or two , ill show him ur pic and see what he says, i dont think that would make anything freeze up but like i said im no AC guru, i can try to find out though

Can you ask your AC guy how I would go about hooking up a central ac duct to a inline vent to my grow tent? I'm wondering how I am going to go about that, also a friend suggested to me since i'm doing my grow setup in the attic to hook up a drip system from the ac since it has the ac's drip pan in the attic. Is this a good idea or not, if it is how would I go about hooking up something like that?

This looks sweet man, You've done a great job putting the room together. Hope the funds come together so you can finish it in a timely manner!
