They are really tiny little black flying gnats. You can put and inch or two of sand on top of your soil. This prevents them from being able to reproduce (they lay their eggs in the soil and the larvae live in it and feed on the roots until mature and start to fly around). You can use diatomaceous earth instead of sand. I usually have a few every grow. I don't worry too much about them unless I start to see a lot of them. They are more of a nuisance than a serious threat like spider mites. BTW welcome to RIU.what the hell are fungus gnats??? i have no clue lol and how do you prvent em!

and you think if i get hot shot pest strips they will prevent em?? and put some sand ontop of teh soil!!
