Can't decide what type of grow to do

Hello all

I purchased my lights, fans, grow tents, filters etc. Thing I cant decide on is what kind of grow to do. eg(soil, hydro or aeroponic). I would really like to do one of the aeroponic tubs I have seen guys building in videos but not sure how hard they are to manage or how to start the seeds in one. Rockwool cubes?

I have seeds coming for 3 different strains. What my plan was to do was get a mother of all 3 strains going and then just have a plant or 2 going for my own personal consumption. Nothing too big or anything.

I have been reading a lot about different grows but I just cant decide what the best route to take would be. I was thinking to start each in soil so as to get my mothers then clone from there into an aeroponic unit but growing in soil sounds difficult in the means of PH control etc. I haven't been much of a gardener in my life so not sure how complex I can handle.

I have a friend trying to get his hands on a few bag seeds to practice with first. Hoping I might learn something from that before using my good seeds.

Any hows any good pointers wood be good. Specially for how to start seeds for Aeroponic unit.

no1 can answer this for u.. u have to write all the pros and cons down and decide for ur self.. it what works best for u, not me!

If you're planning on doing personal consumption and finishing just 1-2 plants at a time a mother is not worth the time or cost imho. If they're feminized seeds i'd just plant 1-4 or whatever you wanted, if they're not feminized? Plant 2-4 seeds then clone whatever comes up female until you are where you want to be for number of plants.

Soil will be the easiest to manage for you. Get some type of organic soil like black gold, roots organic, fox farms ocean blend, whatever - not miracle grow, nothing with slow release nutes in it. Don't stress about pH, all you need to do is buy a water testing kit and test the pH of your water, if its in optimal range you're solid.

The best advice I can give a newbie is use soil, don't overwater (moisture meter is great for newbies, eliminates obsessed guesswork) and go light on nutes. Weed is a weed, put it in some dirt, don't do anything advanced or technical to it, then reap your harvests.

Get a bag of Fox Farms Ocean Forest, the Fox Farms liquid nutrient trio, and go. The nute trio comes with instructions, i'd even go half strength the entire time. Doing this will not give you a pro-quality harvest but beginners aren't pros. Use your first grow to see what a healthy plant looks like and that will help you SO much when you decide to check out hydroponics, aeroponics, heavy nutes, supercropping, etc.

You may as well use the good seeds you bought. Potheads need to grow like potheads. Just relax and let it be brother!

Good man. Go the simplest way you possibly can. All you really have to do is water and fertilize once a week and you'll get very decent bud.

I think soil for your first grow is a wise decision. Get one or two grows under your belt and then experiment with other things.

And if you want to make it even easier, I would reccomend Fox Farm Soil. Its the greatest stuff on earth. Well, except for snapple.

Edit: When you get everything going start a journal too. Its the best way to get real help if you ever need it.

nt go hydro or anything if this is your first grow. Go soil, start with good nutrients and then go, Hydro is much more tedious with the fluctuation of numbers, and I think you will be better staying with soil in the begining.

I agree - make your first grow small and simple. I don't think that excludes hydro but soil is fine. The main thing you will get from a first grow is not how much it yields, but how much you learn. Complexity and too many plants can get in the way of learning.
