Need help with lighting

I'm on my first grow and i'm using a 13watt2700k cfl. Is that enough to grow one plant or would i need more? They are only at about 5inches now with 2 true leaves, will the light i have support it for now?

Ok. Thank you. I've had 3 of them on 24hr light and they seem to be growing quite nicely right now, but I have no clue why. i was going to go get some 42watt cfls. about how many of those would I need?

you are going to need at least 10 of those
How did you pull this arbitrary number out of your ass?

Do you know how large he intends to grow the plant or how large his growing area will be via your psychic abilities?

To answer your question Heavenly: We need a lot more info before we can accurately answer your question.

So you've been here so long you've run out of patience, is that it? Or are you naturally this snarky? I'm just wondering:dunce:

1 plant needs at very very least around 3000 lumens and 1 45 watt CFL puts out around 2600 (i think) so I would say at very least 2 45 watt cool white CFL's
I veg 2 45 watt cool whites and 2 18 watt warm white with 2x38 T8 fluro's 1 cool white one aquarium for 1 plant and the babies are loving it
all I do is swap the 2 45watt cool whites for 1 65watt 1 45 watt warm whites for flowering, but people will tell you all sorts of things mainly "more light is better" and "go with a HID setup" but once you know about lumens and light spectrum's things become alot clearer and easier to judge

It is, i'm sorry to say, poorly set up. I just have the plants in bottles and cups that have been cut in half. I have no money so i'm trying to just get by on what i have. It's a "I wanna smoke my own" type of grow. not looking to sell or produce a whole lot of bud. I'm just seeing if i can do it. I do appreciate all the feedback. next time i will be prepared with the right materials. i'm trying to post pictures...can i just post them from My Pictures in my cpu? if so, how?

Hey man, just checking to make sure you have drainage holes poked in the bottoms of your containers.

To post pix scroll down the reply screen to where it says manage attachments. Click on that and you can browse your pc's memory and upload. Otherwise, you can go to my rollitup and start an album and upload them there. If you do that, then you can have full size pix in the body of your post instead of just little thumbnails that folks have to click to look at.

:dunce:

Yes I did. I poked about five holes in each one.

Okay, now you got pix. They look really stretched which means you don't have enough light and/or it isn't close enough. With CFLs you have to have the bulbs a couple inches away from the plant. The stems are stretching because the leaves need to be closer to the light. So do that, and make sure you have a gentle fan breeze blowing the air around. It shouldn't be blowing over your babies, but moving them gently. This will keep them from overheating and strengthen their stems.

Yes it is quite nice. thank you:bigjoint: the Sativa dominant looking one has a real strong skunk odor to it already. so in like late january i can shorten the photoperiod right?
You probably don't have to wait that long to flower. They will double in size or so when they start flowering. Consider your ceiling height and how much room your lights will need. Also, the bigger they get the harder they will become to light effectively using CFLs.
