Hey Med-'O-Mao ...

You keep bringing up the John Birch Society as though they are a Nazi cult or something. Have you ever been to a Birch meeting? Have you ever read their publication "The New American?"

The Birchers are constitutionalists. They are patriots. And yes ... because they are constitutionalists and patriots, they are anti-communism. In fact, they are anti-socialism of every stripe.

In the past in this forum, you have admitted to being in lock-step with the agenda/platform of the U.S. Communist Party. So, I guess your anti-Birch stance is understandable.

Here's an article from The New American that you might find interesting: http://www.thenewamerican.com/index.php/history/european/2161-ideological-bedfellows

Have fun.

My friend, the taught version of history was much more accurate when I was a school child, not so much any more.
I have learned my views from living in the world and reading many things, from Plato to Marx, FDR to JRR Tolkein. History books and articles of every flavor. I know how to smell bullshit. What I don't get is the immature views by the right. Seems they have been schooled by some cult, like the Birchers. What is wrong with Social Security other than the fact that the government has continusly robbed the fund and left it broke, so the politicians could fund their pet projects like war and military spending. If the fund would have been left alone, it would be funded well into the 2050s. It was the right wing of the government that raided the fund, and now they want to kill it. What do you righties want from "we the people" More blood? We have shed gallons, tons of blood for your wars. When will it ever be enough?
Easy there chief. I served in the military. I served in combat. I saw people die. These are not "MY" wars. They are our wars. And it was my sacrifice and the sacrifice of so many more that make it so you can voice your opinion. I too have read all of those people.

Reagan was a member of the Screen Actors Guild and in 1947 he was elected president of the organization. He had a reputation as a liberal but this soon changed when the House of Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC), chaired by J. Parnell Thomas, began an investigation into the Hollywood Motion Picture Industry. The HUAC interviewed 41 people who were working in Hollywood. These people attended voluntarily and became known as "friendly witnesses". During their interviews they named nineteen people who they accused of holding left-wing views.

One of those named, Bertolt Brecht, an emigrant playwright, gave evidence and then left for East Germany. Ten others: Herbert Biberman, Lester Cole, Albert Maltz, Adrian Scott, Samuel Ornitz,, Dalton Trumbo, Edward Dmytryk, Ring Lardner Jr., John Howard Lawson and Alvah Bessie refused to answer any questions.

Known as the Hollywood Ten, they claimed that the 5th Amendment of the United States Constitution gave them the right to do this. The House of Un-American Activities Committee and the courts during appeals disagreed and all were found guilty of contempt of congress and each was sentenced to between six and twelve months in prison.

Over the next few years FBI agents working with the House of Un-American Activities Committee and the Hollywood Motion Picture Producers, got 320 people blacklisted from the entertainment industry. As president of the Screen Actors Guild Reagan refused to support those actors such as Larry Parks, Joseph Bromberg, Charlie Chaplin, John Garfield, Howard Da Silva, Gale Sondergaard, Jeff Corey, John Randolph, Canada Lee and Paul Robeson who were on this list.

McCarthy was anti-communist .... therefore, I hate McCarthy.

Thatcher was anti-communist ..... therefore, I hate Thatcher.

Reagan was anti-communist ....... therefore, I hate Reagan.

Anyone see a pattern here?
Hitler was anti-communist.... therefore, you love Hitler.

Excuse me, I thought it was Charlie Wilson that was responsible for arming mujihudeen. I wonder how our soldiers feel now that those weapons are being used against them.

I didn't realize Reagan was great president.
Charlie was nothing without the input from a friend of ours - Joanne Herring. She was the real catalyst.

How can you consider him right?

Adolf Hitler was never part of the US right vs. left paradyme. His views fall more in line with the progressive left of America which actually tends to be more leftist/liberal/progressive/communist.

&& I see so many similarities from 1984 to day's administration. has anyone ever heard of "net neutrality?" that's where the federal govt controls everything on the internet, including policing of the internet. say goodbye to your riu.org, nubs

Hitler was a fascist right? Traditionally fascism is considered to be extreme right wing on the political spectrum which has nothing to do with the U.S. or any country for that matter. Communism is traditionally considered to be extreme left on the political spectrum. There is a fine line which seperates communists from fascists. Some consider them to be different versions of the same thing. So I can see where the confusion lies but here is a link which gives you some info on the political spectrum and why I would consider Hitler exteme right wing.
