Super HPS or MH for vegitation

Hey guys I have generally seen that people use MH for veg and HPS for flower. However the more I research about it the less I understand.

Some people seem to use HPS for veg and flower even though it has 2-3k spectrum. It was to my understanding that plants vegetate and experience less stem elongation when givn light around 6.5k instead of 2-3k. I have however veged under a Hortilux Super HPS and got pretty stacked results. I know that the Hortilux Super HPS claims to have 25% more light in the blue spectrum, but it still has a 3k rating with a CRI below 30(CRI means how similar it is to the sun so its 30% like the sun) How is it possible that a 3k HPS with 30% sun spectrum can veg just like a 7k MH with 70-90 % sun spectrum?

Do people even use MH for veg anymore? Is it even worth it to purchase a Hortilux blue, Ushio opti blue, or Sun pulse 6.4k?

I have always gone full cycle with HPS. For most of the veg cycle I use some full spectrum CFLs in addition to the HPS to provide a more ideal lighting spectrum. I continue to have great results to this day.

Me personally id used both more light means more bud production peace...
Sorry I meant to say that I only have a 4x4x7 tent so I can only use one hood. I have to do either mh veg hps flower, or hps veg and flower. It is ofcourse the best option if you combine both of them into one hood or room at the same time. I hear people usualy start with mh then they just add hps in when its flowering so the light increases tons, and the red spectrum is enhanced. I am wondering what is the best combination for a Single Hood Grow

If thats the case buy a hps setup and grab a conversion bulb
I actually have a lumatek 400w so I don't need a conversion. My main concern is weather a MH will veg better then a Hortilux super hps. Have you had better restults vegging with a MH? For instance nodes that are stacked tighter then my above picture veged with a 400w hortilux super hps?

i like to start with folorescants for veg. i picked up a t5....5 bulbs 4 ft long for 175 dollars u can put them right on the tips of plants they make the nodes grow nice and tight, then after a few weeks when they get big i switch to hps. mh is too hot for little plants imo, start with folorescents

I use hps the whole time for convenience but mh is better for veg since its blue spectrum. If your not worried about the convenience factor and have the capability to use both at different stages of growth then you should go for it. Whats better for the plant is better for the harvest.

Well I think i want to buy a 6.4k sun pulse, but they are out of stock at the moment. So i think i might just veg this run with a horti hps, and get a sun pulse for next run.
