Hard to grow strains??

I know things like method of cultivation, medium, and environments are big factors in the way a plant grows. But in general there are strains that are just difficult to grow regardless. That’s why they have experience levels when you buy the seeds. ;-)

So out of curiosity what are some strains you’ve guys had difficulty cultivating? I had intended on growing some "master kush" but have heard it’s pretty hard to grow. Also there’s a sativa hybrid called “speed queen,” heard it was actually pretty easy to grow. I would grow them in soil by the way. bongsmilie

"Speed Queen is a stocky and tough indica with a thick main stem (green or with distinct scarlet coloring) and fleshy leaves. She carries compact and resiny buds that have great “bag appeal” after drying. One pheno has the delicious aroma of orange and citrus."

"Speed Queen is not finicky or difficult to grow."

"High: the “surfers” choice - a stimulating, and balanced indica buzz that does not put you to sleep. Pleasantly relaxing yet leaves plenty of energy for social activities and is a great daytime grass. No nervous side-effects (racy heart, etc.); suitable for regular med users." http://www.cannabis-seeds-bank.co.uk/mandala-seeds/mandala-seeds-speed-queen/prod_759.html

This stuff looks insane..

It just came out not too long ago. Not sure if anyone has had the time to test it out.

"mainly indica strain with an extremely psychedelic effect. This strain has the potential to grow large when given the space, her cannabis seeds produce almighty rock hard resinous buds. Midnight Kush has a tendency to go a fantastic midnight purple colour in cold conditions."

I find that no matter what strain are you working on, its pretty much the same when it comes to growing...cannabis is cannabis..it aint rocket science

There are definetly different difficulty levels of cannabis, I have had trouble with UK Cheese (think its cus of the continuation of one single clone for so long), it was very bug and mold prone, way more then other vrietys sitting next to it, its also very water tempermental (wilts fast then dieds ha).

Kush varieties are nutorious for being Nute Tempermental, I had a king kush that I picked up from a club, it was always having a different nute deficiencies, and never would just be happy, I threw it outdoor cus I didnt want it taking up space and of coarse it died within 2 weeks..

Ive heard Romulan is extremely hard to grow right as well:weed:

I hear that a lot about Kush strains. Also if you don’t clone them properly they’ll take forever to root or won’t root at all. Bro I had some OG Kush the other week though, man it was so smooth and tasted like berries almost. It would definitely would be worth the trouble.

The Cheese hates high levels of nutrients. You can pretty much grow the entire plant in a bag of Fox Farm. Also it’s pretty much true about strains that have less interbreeding are easier to grow for some reason. (probably because your making it more unstable)

I’m reading this book called, “The Botany of Desire” by Michael Pollan. He talks about how Cannabis is the only plant that has had so much attention paid to breeding and genetics.

Hard strains to grow? Where to begin!

Easy to grow, as it were, seems to be a gauged form of measurement when determining if a particular strain is "GOOD".

I think there's tons of strains out there that don't grow like they say they should, and none of the seedbanks are going to be like, "and if you can keep the ph at exactly 6.8 with less than a .6 variance, this strain won't lose all it's leaves and die" Fantastic!. ...but that's exactly how some strains seem to grow, so difficulty to me means: a plant is tricky to grow if it strongly reacts to me not doing something just right.

I've found OG Kush incredibly easy to grow actually. Never had an issue rooting. It's tolerant to heat, ph fluctuation, etc. The only issue I've ever had with it is that it gets PM easy. People keep telling me how badly it yields but I've always found it to be average/above average.

Other things cheese hates: high PH, low PH, any insects, heat, cold, etc...

I've given it a couple tries in both hydro and soil and it just never seems to find a happy place. There is always something wrong with it. Some strains are more difficult than others but it's the only strain I've ever really had issues with. Too bad because I love the final product.
