A Gift From God

Old and New Testament verses are used to show continuity in God's treatment of marijuana. God's mind has not changed. Primary Old Testament verse is Genesis 1:29. This verse will show us God's intent for all seed-bearing plants, which includes marijuana. Primary New Testament verses are 1 Timothy 4:1-4. These verses show God's contempt and condemnation for those people who are opposed to marijuana in any way.

Genesis 1:29.
Then God said, "Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you."

1 Timothy 4:1-4.
4:1 But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons,
4:2 by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron,
4:3 men who forbid marriage and advocate abstaining from foods, which God has created to be gratefully shared in by those who believe and know the truth.
4:4 For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected, if it is received with gratitude;

The Bible speaks for itself. It clearly says that God created marijuana for our use and says terrible things about those who seek to command abstinence or advocate abstaining from plants which God has created. Criminal sanctions command abstinence and are extreme examples of advocating abstinence.

Notice, the only condition placed on the use of this God-given plant is that it be received with gratitude. 1 Tim 4:4 "For everything created by God is good and nothing is to be rejected, if it is received with gratitude." If you would like to see grateful people, you will find them wherever marijuana has reduced pain, cured blindness, whose tumors have disappeared, whose depression is vanquished, or have just gathered in happiness to share eachother's loving company. Jesus said; "by this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you have love one for another", (John 13:35). Jesus says it is OK to gather in large, loving groups.

Contrary to the contention, "it does not say it is OK to consume it (marijuana) anywhere in scripture". Again review 1Tim4:4. "For everything created by God is good and nothing is to be rejected." This says it is OK, it is good and is not to be rejected.

...a parting thought. Jesus said " You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free",(John 8:32). It is the intent of this study to assist our walk along the path of truth and freedom.

The above biblical quotes applied to all plants and fruits yielding seed would kill if you took it literally. Some fruiting plants produce cyanide. The birds that feed on them can ingest it safely, but a human would quickly die.

If you consider the quote literally it's suicide, and false.
If you consider it figuratively it's not evidence.

So why use the bible to justify ingesting a plant? You either want to do it or you do not.

If it's to obtain civil rights, reason alone should be justification for it.

Have you read of the Hemp Hearts Super-food?

Please define food.

"For everything created by God is good. . . ."

I didn't read anywhere that I had to eat everything.

There are some good foods I do not care for.

How can one justify picking only parts of a book to believe in?

also isnt heroin from a plant as well? does that mean we shud be on that??
"on" that ? Use it medicinally - yes, if need be.
Use vs abuse.

I can't count the number of people I know who are all strung out on prescription meds. Synthetic cocktails of all sorts of crap! Purified poison. Purified man-made pharmaceutical poison.

Mother natures 'pharmacies' are the best. Effective and no damning side effects if used in moderation, properly and without chemical tweaking or tampering.

Every ill has an herb - but not every herb has an ill.

Heroin is not natural. It is made from the poppies but has to be chemically treated to make heroin thus making it a man made drug, same for cocaine but made from a different plant. Now opium is a different matter made from the poppy but its not chemically treated to make, Chinese have been smoking that shit for millenia. bongsmilie

Owww... I missed that! I was thinking Opium but let the 'heroin' slide. Nice catch! I was reading and thinking too fast. Plus it was late.

Yes, heroin is a 'tampered' with substance.

I find that the more something is tampered with - the more toxic it may be. Not always but most of the time.

No matter what- Jesus is still Lord!

I noticed something a long time ago.

Living in Aspen from the late 70's (when Aspen was really cool) nobody od'd on coke. Some abused the heck out of it and their lives should the results of abuse but there were just a few people each year that had to get medical attention due to the purity. Whatever.

But when freebasing became popular the numbers rose in every way.
I noticed that when you added another chemical and heat (cracking the molecule) everything about it changed.
It grew fangs and sucked the life out of people- money too.

Ether is a natural form of Alcohol and is a water base molecule. It is a purified form but a natural one none the less. Cocaine Base is washed in ether to separate it from the impurities around the molecule. Coffee is washed with water much in the same way.

But using ether or baking soda and water plus heat - making coke smokable- changed everything.

Look at the other substances that can be 'cracked' and notice the damning effect created many times when messing with mother nature.

It's just something I noticed.

BTW Aspen is not what it used to be. It started dieing in 85 and has been going downhill since McDonals (big corporations) were allowed to open shop.
Most of the store fronts rent for 25,000 or more per month. Sad. It used to be a cool town with cool people but- money and the acquisition of wealth has destroyed is- once upon a time- small town charm. We moved. And life is better by having done so.

Looks like I got people thinking! lol .... i love reading what and how people think. I just dont think God , "which i do believe in" looks down on me for using a plant he created for my pleasure and well being. Even though the LAW says no. The Law also states that Its ok to put someone to death for a crime. I dont believe that is right either. I make my own laws and follow them , and the government laws that get broken along the way, dont really matter to anyone but me! lol! Smoke and be happy, Keep it natural!

I don't understand, I thought a lot of people who are religious are actually against smoking marijuana and say its nothing but harmful. If it states it so blatantly in the Bible that its god's gift, so take a hit, why are so many against the herb, and why is it illegal today? The church seems to try to wiggle its way into state all the time, and of course does success in many ways, if those in charge were potheads, it would be legal i think

Hey there fellow spiritual enlighten!
I’m pretty new here to this forum, and I glad I have found this topic, its one that I’ve been debating forever. I do call my self a Christian, and attend church, (ok… don’t shoot the messenger just yet). But if my church members new I did cannabis I’d probably be condemned. You see I’ve had two spinal fusions, along with the occasional bad bouts of tinnitus. Pain meds are way to habit forming for me, and simply put, I can’t stand the way they make me feel, both physically and mentally.:wall: I get the most pain relief with cannabis, with less cruddy side effects. That’s one of the ways I justify, (I’ll becoming back to that term) my usage. But if you want to read a lengthy dissertation on “What does the Bible say about doing drugs?” go here. There are scare tactics involved with this article, along with some major guilt devices. I like the “Marijuana, while being the least harmful of all of the illicit drugs, is still potentially lethal.” lol, but there is also some truth to the article. I’ll let you decide accordingly.
Of course people through the years have been using the Bible out of context to get what they want. It also brings me back to “justification”. People can pretty much justify just about anything they need and/or want to do. And this is where my conscious gets in on the act, should I or shouldn’t I par take. I do want to biblically “obey the laws of the land”, but here’s another of my “justificational” reasonings… If the American Founding Fathers obeyed the laws of the land we’d still be under British rule, paying out our tax dollars to Queen Elizabeth. Nothing against you Britt’s out there. I love your country; I’ve been there done that, but man… your still paying up the gazoo in taxes. It took a war, and over 50,000 patriot deaths to bring about our freedom. And most all of those who died in the Revolutionary War were Christians. Can we say, “Catch-22 here”?
I guess this is where I say, do all you can to get cannabis legalized! I hope it won’t take a Revolutionary War to get weed legalized, too many people will get hurt in the process. We tokers tend to be a peaceful bunch anyway. But just as alcohol was decriminalized in 1933, maybe we too can hope for a peaceful solution to our Cannabis Consciousness. Then my conscious will finally be free to “obey the laws of the land”. Till then… Fight the Good Fight!
I’m off my soapbox, thanks for listening,
Skeeter
