Curing Snow White

Hey all, I was curing my buds and it seems as though it is turning my bud brown. I half harvested the top of my plant, and cut the rest down recently. When I looked at buds from the same plant, I noticed that the cured buds have turned waay darker and a orange-brown color. Is that normal?

Also, I noticed that the buds that have been curing are still a little wet. I pulled some out and dried them, then put them back in the curing jar, but those are like rock hard now. What am I doing wrong?

The first pic is of a bud from the top of the plant, a little into curing, the next two show cured buds with a fresh bud, and notice the difference. Remember its off the same plant

Help!

r u curing in your grow room or something? It looks as if your buds have been drying somewhere wehre they've been exposed to direct light, changing the hue of the bud.

r u curing in a dark very dry place? Dry'em all the way through (@least the bud itself) and don't forget the daily air exchange as many as 2-4 times a day.

I put it in a cupboard, air exchange about 4 times a day, while taking some to smoke, so I guess that would be enough to color change it.

I'm guessing mold. And I'll tell you why. A few years back my buddy gave me some Mexican-brick weed. It was harder then stale french fries. I figured I needed to add moister to it, just to make it easier to break up. I took a big chuck, threw it into a mason jar, added a few leaves of lettuce and sealed the jar. It worked great for a few days, but when I did it a second time the following weak, it turned nasty brown, kind of how yours looks. Sorry. lol. So I'm not really sure, but your saying it's still moist and it looks like my funky mexi-brick weed, so I'm calling mold on this one.

Its not mold! If your bud wasn't fully dried when you put it in the jars this will happen. Next time just dry the bud longer. I've done this before.

these guys clearly don't fully understand curing.
the purpose of curing is to break down the chlorophyll and allow the bud to mellow out, giving a delicious aroma and a smooth, rich potent smoke. it goes slightly browner because the chlorophyll is the green pigment.
your bud looks delicious to me. mold will present as white fuzz or maybe grey.

let them cure. as long as they are dry enough they won't mold.

I don't know the details of your grow, but if you harvest too early with the pistils still long and white, they will all die, turn brown/red, and cover the bud like that. A plant ready to harvest doesn't have as many long hairs; when its ripe many hairs will recede back into the bud. Like I said I don't know the details of your grow, but from first glance I'd recommend flowering longer next time.

It definitely doesn't look like a problem though. Looks like good smoke :leaf:

I was thinking that good bud is greener. Dont get me wrong it's gets me high as fuck and it tastes good, I was just worried about the look. I was thinking it may be a sign of it going bad. They may not have been fully dried as suggested by someone, but another guy says that the loss of chlorophyll is what causes the browning. I would guess the former (not dry enough), but ishould it lose some of its greenness anyway? any other suggestions?

The colour merely represents what stage of the flowers' lifecycle it's at when you chop it. As the plant it self has so many flowers on it, some will have matured quicker than others. I harvested some Lemon Skunk recently where the main cola had a lighter tint to its colour compared to the branches. The smoke was primo either way.
