Water pump

Hi can you tell me if i should have the aerogarden water pump dripping constantly when i am germinating seed in pod or just turn it off as i got airstone. I just dont want to ovr water and rot it? Your advice on this would be great as i have 1 fem lowryder 2 in now with root showing pointing down and had pump on for bit to get pod wet soft. Should i turn it on untill it shows green or leave it off, dont want to kill it with to much water lol,

Best way is to germ in paper towels then place in pod I keep my pump on tomatos which is 18/6 I believe, and once the roots hit the water also I believe u turn the pump off so they don't tangle in the filter thingy. Hope that helps

the airpump is uselless unless the roots are in the water , secondly with my AG on each of the settings the water pump is designed to run for what ever hours the setting is , id just let the water pump do its own thing , as long us u still have the labels on so u dont get any algea youll be alrite + u wont get root rot with the air pump going.

If the pump being entangled is your worry try this, wrap it in a woman's short nylon sock. That was a tip I got from a customer service rep from A/G. They also sell pump socks, (real fine mesh bags) at the hydroponics stores to prevent just that but they are kind of pricey.

I germinate mine directly in the planting medium, pointy end down, because I don't have to worry about handling it later and I've had no problems.

You do need the pump until your roots reach the nutrient solution even if you do have an air stone. Hank

Thanx to everyone, hey yer i decided to leave pump on, the root is prolly 2" from hiting water then turn off. I noticed it needs sum guidance on way down the root appears get confused. Might just sow me next one straight in next grow.
