I was wondering If anybody has ever tried to use less light in flower cylce more night time to make the plant flower a bit quicker? Im in a situation where I have to move and wanted to make my plants flower at a faster rate if possible?? Help is always appreciated!

What reason is there for thinking less light which means less energy would result in faster growth?

the plants flower during the dark, if you change to say 14 off 10 on you will shorten flowering time but also the yield... it works

all less light does is slow things down. you only have 12hrs
of light as it is. less light seems like it would slow things down

I just thought if there where less light during light on and more night time the plant would be tricked to think its really late into the flowering period and thus would prob try to hurry up and finish, I know there would be negitive effects on the yield but if it finishes faster then its worth a try

I'll be interested to know how that turns out
doesn't seem like it should work but I'm subscribed so update
this when a verdict is reached

Shes at about 20 days into flower give or take a few days, forgot to jot down the exact day I put her into flower cycle... but Ive grown this bagseed strain once before so I have an idea about the flowering time 60 to 65 days so Ill keep posting progress and maybe Ill go to 10\14 to see if actually flowers in less time.

plants will ripen faster with less then 12 hours of light though yield will be lost. does this make sense to yall? the less hours of light will make calyxes swell faster and thc mature quicker, though they wont be has dense.....

Flowering time varies from strain to strain. Even within a specific strain there can be many different pheno types. In hybrids that is. Flowering time is also effected by enviromental factors. Usually extending the flowering time, not shortening it. Just grow it out at 12/12 and harvest the day of or one before you move. You can dry and cure in your new home. Bet you would be better off.

noone is debating its better to flower 12/12 then less hours im just letting you know it can be done with less hours of light sooner. but your right your better off all around budding 12/12

I guess I could leave it on 12/12 and then maybe just have to harvest earlier than expected or I could keep on 12/12 for a while then go to 11/13 and when it get close to moving time maybe couple weeks before drop it to 10/14 to help it ripen up a bit more..

Ok, here is the hypothetical scenario:
I have a mother plant from which I have cloned and completed 3 grows.
Mom is a very healthy and robust Northern Lights babe . Advertised flowering time, 60 to 65 days.
On my first grow had a few issues along the way. Not big, but problems none the less.
At 77 days flowering the plants had pretty much done all they could do and were pretty much done growing. Decent buds but the trichs still mostly clear.
Second grow got some of the bugs worked out in the grow room and grow medium.
This time the plants had a happier life and at 75 days I had some really nice buds and a lot of amber trichs. But again the plant had pretty much done all it could.
Third grow was the charm! Had all my ducks in a row. Nutes and medium just right. The grow room was full on climate controlled. I WAS GROWING!<Forrest Gump. (GO ROLL TIDE!)
Day 68 the trichs were full on 50/50 and the plant was willing to give more. Big fat full buds. Not a lot of extra veg growth. But what she had was still nice, green and healthy. A pretty nice grow I would say.
Now. It took 3 grows from clone. From the same mother, so the exact same genetics. To adjust my grow style and grow enviroment to accommodate the strain. So you have things figured out for your plant would you want to change things? Shortening the light period in flower may help, and probably does help some certain strains. Like those originally from latitudes farther north . Where the light cycles are faster and more dramatic than the rest of us experience. But for most of the hybrids we grow. I am thinking not. And I am not trying to piss on anybodys parade. Experimentation is a great and wonderful thing. Just in my opinion in this case I think it would to more harm than good. That’s all. I do wish you the best of luck and a safe move.
I hope everyone gets my overall point.
