Depends on how big you want it to get?

you can use 24/0 , 20/4 , or 18/6 for veggin there is a good arguement for givin the plants a rest but growth spurts can happen during the dark periods, but on the flipside some strains will grow more with 24/0

in the end the choice is completely yours and best thing is to experiment till you find what fits your growin style best

hope that helps

Edit, I forgot to mention that in the pic your leaves look yelow, hope you are not givin nutes yet plant is to young

There is a point of light saturation where the plant cannot use any more light and you are essentially wasting money. After 20 hours of light the gain vs the expense isn't really worth it. So 20/4 is a happy medium. If you look around you'll see what I'm talking about. Uncle Ben had a good link to a light saturation chart of hours of light vs growth. Its a parabolic curve that pretty much flatlines after 20 hours.

I would switch to 18/6 and give your plant the dark time. There are some aspects of growing that can only be accomplished in the dark.

I'm curious what the "good argument" is for going to 18/6 or anything other than 24/7. I read here that after a point plants can't benefit from more light. Says who? What are the sources for all this? I respectfully submit that it is superstition. I have never seen any source from horticulture or plant science making this argument. In the absence of that I have to conclude that more light = more energy and I will stay on 24/7.

ever since i turned the lights off for 6 hours the plant has really grown a lot since yesterday and my room is starting to smell like the plant...
anyways, there is one leaf that is turning brown on the end of it... the picture is below, maybe u can help with this..every other leaf is green...except the two yellow at the very bottom..which i was told i should clip them off...idk tho..

thanks

K I will just let them do their thing. I wont intervene. But can you see the burn spot okay in the picture? What can be causing this? Nutrient burn?

although for my grow I used 24/0 a good argument was that swithcing from lights on 24 hours directly to 12 could stress the plant cutting its light in half and increasing darkness all at once

lights off just might be making it stretch a little when mine went off from 24 the plant didnt grow any leaves faster just seemed to get taller as for the leaves idk the problem doesnt look like normal nutrient burn it looks more like what my plant did when it started flowering but I dot understand why its happening so early for your plant either way if new growth is looking good just let those leaves die and NEVER cut them seems like people want to cut them just to do something but it only hurts the plant idk if my posts are any help but I wish you luck man keep posting pics as you go and im sure someone here will help

thanks man. its really doing well in the dark hours. NO light gets in my box when the lights are off.. I just need to buy a timer still. I havnet had the time to go down and buy one..

so do u think i should just give it pure water for a while more? i havent watered it since 2 days ago..ill check the moisture in a minute..my temps in the box are a constant 76...the lights are about 2.5 inches maybe 3 above the plant..could this cause the leaves to burn?thank again..this forum is such a big help

Okay will do starting today. Thanks

my grow box got too hot and the plant was wilting. so i took it out and had it in open air with a fan ever since. i also got one of those clip on lights with the reflector and have a 29 watt cfl daylight bulb over the plant. and its growing much quicker and better.. but what can be causing the lower leaves to yellow?
