Even though this guy is clearly a Cromagnon; he illustrates his points simply and answers thoroughly. To me it makes sense; any moveable like parts that continually grate against each other will in fact create dust. Would think twice before buying glass on glass bongs despite the guy being a pompous prick....
if glass dust causes cancer there's gonna be a hell of a lot of cancer in the uk, there's alot of weed in the uk spayed with glass dust to make it weigh more.
maybe this will help answer some questions about glass on glass and dust, ....

In my industry particles are a huge concern. Can glass particles be generated by two glass surfaces rubbing together? Hell yes. Will it cause cancer? NO. It can cause silicosis if exposure is bad enough, that in turn can become COPD.
BTW FDD, I'm sure you know glass workers are on the list for hazardous occupations as far as silicosis goes, so be careful and think about the long term. I have a bro in law that is on the lung transplant list right now because of exposure to silica that occured 30 years ago.
All that said, I would NOT be afraid to use a "glass on glass" pipe. I have no intention of grinding the fittings together as I smoke.
i have this and i just ground the two together as if i were trying to make glass dust. i got nothing. i even licked it to see if it was "gritty". nope. it's actually rather smooth. like velet.

How much for the used equipment? Since it's already been licked I figure I could get an outstanding discount!![]()
