co2 usage

Greetings everyone! When I decided to utilize co2 into my grow, I found information to be very sparse, and hard to come by specific information. I couldn't find anywhere recommended times to start or finish using co2, so I tried to rely on a common sense approach, I decided to use co2 on or about the 4th day of my grow, now some people have argued that this is too early, but I think I have proven those people wrong. One benefit of this was, that even though I had no fan blowing across the stems, a recemmended practice to strenghten the stems, I ended up with beautiful, thick, strong stems. I also ended up with extremely tight internode spacing, even thou I vegged under HPS lighting.
I have been trying to research the use of co2 and came across a statement I wanted to run by anyone here who knows about co2 usage 1st hand, I read that if you use it too far into the flowering stage, it actually decreases potency, is there any truth to that? When would you stop using co2?
Peace!

I use it all the way through flowering. It's very useful during veg, too, but what I think they meant was to not use it on young plants until they are growing well without it.

Never heard or read about lowering of potency, or having any effect other than increasing photosynthesis rate.

HTH

Hey potroast, thanks for replying, what I read was at Indoor Cannabis Cultivation Section 7: C02 supplementation states:
Some growers add C02 to their grow rooms to increase growth rate. This has proved itself to be effective in many experiments. C02 supplementation also helps the plants withstand higher temperatures of up to 95 degrees without slowing down growth. There have been complaints however, that C02 supplementation during flowering reduces potency. Therefore, C02 should be stopped when the lights are turned to 12/12.

Needless to say, I find this confusing.

And that's just another guys opinion. Some guy who is posting on a site just like we're doing here. I'm surprised someone there didn't correct him, or maybe they did.

CO2 in the flowering room makes bigger, stronger plants with bigger buds.

Tks Potroast. I know a lot of people here think the dude from I Grow Chronic got a few things pretty wrong. I myself found that when I really tried to do what he was saying that he hadn't provided enough information to complete that task. Anyhow, thanks to the good people here I was able to answer all of my questions.

Anyhow, I'm thanking you because I wanted someone who I trusted here to verify what is the truth. +rep, not that you need it being mod and all.

I've never seen that video, but I've seen a lot of guys spout stuff that they don't really know for sure. I know that CO2 has improved my budding plants when used during flowering.

And what's this about me being a MOD, so I don't need rep points? I guess that's what everyone thinks, cause hardly anyone has ever given me any points. I'm just another grower like you, and Rollitup asked me to help out. All it means is that I delete spam and duplicate posts and stuff.

So if I helped you, and you want to thank me for that, then click on the scales of justice in my post already. :blsmoke:

the clickage for rep is already done bro. but I appreciate the heads up that it helps whether yer a mod or not.

Well, the scales are new to me, but potroast, you've been helping me since day one with knowledgeable answers, so you got a vote from me!

i just started using co2 tank last week and i gotlike 2-3 nodes in like a half inch of vert growth. i think it too like 4-5 days but i have uhhh big wattage to so that helps.

co2 24/7 with fan is better because as the air actually touching the plant has the co2 absorbed to the plant a fresh current of co2 air is needed for optimum usage. just think stagnant air sits there and doesnt move from the plant surfacethen there is a little bubble of already respirated air directly on the leaf surface.

co2 = always good get a fan and make it work even better. i clip my co2 (timed) output hose to the screen on my standing oscilating fanwhich always is blowing. so far super good.

CO2 is heavier than air, so it's best to deliver it via tubing to the area over the plants and release it there. It's also best to time the exhaust to be off for release and some time after, and then come on only to refresh the air.

And thanks for the +rep guys, it makes my fingers type faster. :blsmoke:

dankciti, theres no point to running co2 24/7, in fact you are wasting the co2 if thats what you are doing. I know of using the fan trick, but its not as good as direct delivery, as potroast already told you. You can use a small fan on the floor to blow the co2 back up again.
