Some people rely on money & HPS's too much.

GardenKnowm wrote a book on growing 5oz from like $50-$100.

Read that, then come back to me and say that again He used CFLs, good ph management, and some other important factors.

would homemade apple wine count its has about 10% alcohol by volume, I think ill just use the 12-4-8 pellets i have i don't want my closet smelling like urine

put the pellets in water and let it sit till they dissolve

600 watt hps which would also require some sort of heat management.

Yes, if your willing to go splashing out all that money on that sorta system then go for it. But for me, growing my small number of plants, and in a constricted space im happy with my cfls.

A large commercial grower would best suit a hps. But for me, its all about the persy.

Tbh mate, it sounds like they're isn't enough water on the bottom of the pots.

Your placing wet medium around the top of the surface then the roots are going to grow to try and reach that.

Next time you do that, water the plant at the same time

Pellets work best either mixed into the medium or placed at the bottom of the pots to help encourage oxygen to the roots

I'm glad your not fixed on your HPS's mate.

But saying that your only gonna get a 10s off of cfl's is insane

Yu cud hit 1oz per plant easily if you do it right with cfls.
