Canna Coco/LED grow!

Hello all. After some frustrating issues with my last grow (boiled down to inadequate drainage) i'm going with the Canna Coco nutrient line. I've heard very good things from various growers and my local grow shop owner has been using it faithfully for the last four years with amazing results. i wanted to also keep things on the organic side.

Equipment:

126w penetrator (which is supposed to be equivalent to a 400 HPS), and a small oscillating fan

Nutrients:

Rhizotonic, Canna Coco A/B, Cannazym, PK 13-14. I also picked up a bit of Colossal Bud Blast as a foliar spray. (increases overall health and increases shoot/bud development). A little bit of blackstrap (unsulphured) molasses for some carbs. Seems like a large investment, but totally worth it. The amounts bought will last at LEAST a year, prob much longer.

Genetics: (all feminized)

Northern Lights#5 Haze Mist
Trainwreck
Fruity Chronic Juice
Hawaiian Snow
Chiesel
Big Bang

My first grow I used all feminized Big Bang's and had a few beans left over.

I've had great success with Single Marijuana Seeds but I'm living in Canada. I've used them twice so far with excellent service and quality. arrived 7-12 days from purchase date.

Schedual:

The girls were germinated and planted on December 6th. I put them on 24/0 for the first 3-4 days then once i saw some roots i cut it back to 20/4. The BB was started a week or two earlier. My grow shop has an info sheet created that outlines the ml/gal ratio for all of the nutes making it almost foolproof. (If anyone would like a copy, i can PM it to you or you can just use the low-end of the scale from the charts on Canna.com. Thats basically what mine says).

When feeding the girls I FTD (flood-to-drain) which right now is only about 250-350ml every 2 days (6 inch grower pots). With the Coco, you want to let them dry out a bit between feedings. Also, I've been giving them a foliar spray of CBB in the mornings every couple of days.

Compared to my last grow with soil (same light being used) things are definitely better. All signs of growth look amazingly perfect with zero signs of stress (no drooping/curled leaves).

I'll try to keep things updated regularly, and if there are questions just hit me up. Hopefully this inspires someone into trying my methods or at least learns something from my mistakes. Happy growing! bongsmilie

Also, there are plenty of "LED haters" out there, if you wanna hate...please don't do it here. Positive info/comments only! Thanks!

Not much to report on. They are all on their 3/4th internode now. Everything is coming along nicely. The girls are going to get some nutes tonite. I'll try and update weekly with some pics. Thanks for the support fellas! Happy growing! bongsmilie

hunt4pot1: yes i am...i have already used this 126 watt'er prior to this grow. I implemented it 2 weeks into flowering for my previous grow. (also used a 90w UFO...using it now for a mother plant :D).

TCurtiss: thanks bro. I'm going to have to get me some of that mylar myself haha. Lookin nace.

Maybe he meant just the medium being organic?

What makes you think that the nutes are UN organic? Of course they are. For starters, the Coco substrate itself 100% organic. All it is composed of is coconut fibers. The fibers are pre-treated to reduce their potassium and sodium levels and enriched with magnesium and calcium to boost plant growth. The coco naturally contains a mold called Trichoderma that fortifies roots and prevents attack by diseases and is 100% biodegradable. I think that makes it pretty organic.

Now as far as the nutrients are concerned, Coco A&B, Rhizo, Cannazyme, and PK 13-14 are completely organic and free from chemical additives. These nutrient solutions are specially formulated to capitalize on the unique cation-exchange complex of coconut and maximize the growth potential of your plants in hydroponic gardening. that equals MASSIVE root systems...which in turn equals MASSIVE buds. (i have pics coming very shortly as well as an update.)

and yes... i did say hydroponic. All hydroponic refers to is how the plants receives its nutes. From the water. Only diffence is that my substrate is coco and not air. if you don't want to take my word for it....read it on their website. I'm pretty sure they are a reputable company.

100% ORGANIC! bongsmilie

Late last week I transferred them all over to 2 gallon pots where they will now stay. i didnt have a camera until today so thats the reason for a late update. Comparing things to previous grows, the root formation is much greater and healthier! (as shown below!)

All have shown lots of shoot growth with at least an inch of main stem growth. I moved the light a few inches higher (now at 8 inches). i plan on cloning from each of these, using an areocloner to propagate. I am also going to be moving within 2 weeks so I am going to wait for that to be finished before starting with a new project. New place equals new pics. I hope to at least double the size of my current setup. Anyways...more on that later. Right now the ladies are on week #3 (with BigBang a little older but still feeding her the same as the others).

The first picture on the second row (#6) is of the Hawaiian Snow, my only true looking sativa plant. Hopefully she won't stretch too much. I plan on topping/LST next week before I take some clones. Might give an extra week of veg time to increase shoot size prior to 12/12. Going to give them a feeding tonite.

Now if only these ladies could hurry up to satisfy my insatiable appetite! bongsmilie

hate to break it to you, but these are NOT organic

PK13/14 is pure chemical with added hormore. cannazyme is chemical acid wash, and the basic A+B are chem too. While rhizo is based on seaweed, im pretty sure it doesnt count as organic.

I guess you can't believe everything you read on the internet. My bad. I must have been referring to the biocanna line and got mixed up. regardless...even though this thread is in the wrong spot, it still doesnt change its title and what im doing. a canna coco/led grow. Thanks for pointing that out though. bongsmilie

man stfu about this guys nutes not being organic... fuck..... from what i see he's pretty damn organic. If there is a trace of synthetics you dont have to be a technical dickhead about it.

anyways

nice grow.. i been looking into LED's here lately, i kno that the technology has improved since they first emerged... and am really interested in them.... question.. do you use them through flowering? if not, then what do u use?

+rep. Thanks.

The reason I went with LED is because of simplicity. Never any heat issues. Great for closet grows or areas with minimal space. You dont have to worry about ventilation as much. Keeping the door open with a fan is all thats necessary. You can also keep the lights pretty much touching the plants with no heat transfer. No worry about burning any tops. Keeping them that close also allows for more intense lumens to reach plant (but with a reduction in coverage).

I used this 126w light for my last flowering cycle and things went pretty well (all considering the issues i ran into). With the regimen the ladies are on, I should be able to pull down anywhere from 1-2 oz per plant. Snot too bad.

As far as an update, the Girls are growing nicely. Not much to report on. Will have some more pics coming next week. Until then... bongsmilie

Update: Ladies are doing well. (sorry no pics) They are starting week 6 of veg today and I thought this would be a good time to start topping/cloning/LST in preparation for flowering. also thinking about adding a couple CFL's to help supplement flowering. once I have made some progress i'll follow with an update. bongsmilie
