you can give it 24 if you want, you should give it anywhere between 18 to 24 and the males are bad because theres no buds man and they might pollenate your females and you dont want bad seedy weed, you want that sinsemillia

also anuther quick question when i get into cloning for the 2 weeks of stabilazation/rooting wat light cycle should i use cuz i herd you dont want alot of light so it can focus on root production instead of photosythesis is this true?

They (males) DO have THC, but since no buds less of it. One of the reasons people say to make hash out of the males. And males *NEVER EVER* have seeds. (how many males of any species on earth do you know give birth to the offspring?)
Females never turn into males just because a male is near by. Hell, they never turn to males. They can turn to hermies, but that is NOT because a male was around, its because they were stressed beyond what they want and/or predisposed to become a hermie.

for a soil SOG, use 6"x6"x8" square pots. (6L,6W,6depth) do not use moisture control or any fertilized soil. DIY untill you master the art of fertilizer. you will just end up burning your shit if you dont.
Never use full strength ferts. always use 50% strength or less. less is more.
bloodmeal is best used in small consistant doses. it will burn the piss out of your leaves if not used correctly
bonemeal is pretty much the same.
pack them in as tight as you can get them.
do not expect rapid growth like you would see in the hydro SOG setups...
expect 8-12 weeks of 12/12 flowering using clones only.
seedlings just wont work.
cough up the extra cash and get feminized seeds from a reputable breeder...
it will take about 2 months of veg to get one mother ready for clones.
if you are running a large SOG, expect to be able to take 10 cuttings per mother plant in the begining.
having multiple mothers is good for many reasons... i like to keep 3 at all times. as your operation expands, and you get a few harvests, you can reduce the amount of mothers you use, as you become familiar with your choice of strain it will become apparant quite quickly which moms/pheno you will want to keep.
you can keep a mother forever, with enough tlc. personally, when i select mothers, i plant from seed and torture the plants relentlessly. after 3-4 months, if there are survivors that show the traits i desire, they move to the mom cab. mother selection is vital. you dont want weak genetics with a SOG, unless you like wasting time.
you will need HID lighting. flowering can be done with floro's and CFL's, but for SOG, if you want rapid growth and dank buds, HID is the only way to go. you want 400w minimum for every (16) 6" sq pot. i prefer CMH, most prefer HPS.
if you start small, expect to expand slowly, but experience less problems along the way.
if you start big, expect to learn alot very quickly, and prepare to epic fail once or twice before you get a viable crop...

Sog, in dirt? ....sounds like your planning to be a very busy man! ...that's goin to take alot of work if your goin to smash 40 - 50 plants under a light like traditional sog using hydro w/ a res. But, Max420 gave you good instructions.

Hey stop bashing the males. Getting rid of great genetics regardless if they're male creates CLONE-ONLY strains. They aren't as prolific because if the mother ever dies, that great variety is lost forever, unless the line was passed on to others.

I saw a guy on another forum who ran a SOG with soil, in a 2'x2' cabinet using cfls. He used party cups and harvested 3 small plants a week that gave up a dry 7g each. I think MG organic would work perfectly since it feeds for two months. Pretty much all you have to do is water properly, with no nutes.

all i did was the second i saw it was a male i chopped it and immediately turned it into butter...no drying no special precautions and it seemed to work great...i am assuming i am past the point of placebo effect(i was pretty skeptical)
