ok well i'm just finishing up my first grow ever and i went very cheap. hyponex from walmart mixed with north counrty pro-gro fert. and perlite. i used advanced nute sensi grow/bloom and big bud. i think i had great sucess for such a cheap soil. someone would have to show me much better results for me to spend that much on soil. i'm not putting down ff at all i guess i'm just cheap. LOL. i'm sure their products are good, but i feel you can get the same results much cheaper by mixing your own. if i can do it i'm sure anybody could. here is the grow at 6 weeks. it's at 7 now but i have no pictures since 6weeks.

Check it. I have ran FFOF with my usual strain and had great results. I then again used it in the same exact method and seemed to be really hot and stunted my growth. What I didnt understand, FFOF is a really hot mix. I seemed to have had a 50/50 results with this soil. I would cut this soil with Light Warrior forsure, atleast 10%. A good friend of mine uses FFOF by itself(no Light Warrior) and feed after a week with great results, hes in 1 gallons with Green Crack babies(They like food around here). What Im getting at is, FFOF has more good ratings than it does bad ratings! I would use it second compared to running Roots Organics soil 1st. I would get FFOF if I couldnt find Roots, however I pay 9 bucks a bag for FFOF.

I would also recommend ( at the soil store) when buying soil, that you always put your hands in between bags of soil. See if its hot. If so, thats a good thing. Grab ur bags from the middle of the pile. A good warm bag means an "Active" soil. Better benefits from warm, active soil, imho. Just FYI.

looks pretty nice actually but it looks like u had a few problems but thats besides the point lets see what they looked like when they were babies like mine..mine were barely rooted then i put it in the soil and showed u pics from what they looked like 3-4weeks later..and i said i NEVER get nutrient burn sooo what u got to say to that? y do i add nutes and have no problems? i think alot of shit gets blown out of proportion on certain topics and this is one of them..go light on the nutes..u dont gotta wait a damn month..period

Do what works for you and your strain,,,I have 2 journals here,,,There is no need to add nutes for a while using FF ocean forst soil. It's hot no need for overkill. No need for a pissing match either. Peace and good luck fellow growers.

no trust me...u just added it wrong thats all..its ur mistake not the soil or nutrients
No, it's the soil! FF Ocean Forest has a "well earned" reputation as being "too hot" for young seedlings. Most growers cut Ocean Forest down to about 1/2 strength to avoid burning thier seedlings. You must lead a charmed life if you add nutes to full strength Ocean Forest from the "Git-go"!

planting from seedling?? ill probably have to agree.. i'd wait till its a couple inches...its all about the roots..if they can handle it..do it..the reason y i start right of the bat with light nutrients (15-25%strength) is because they got a good root system already..i dont grow from seed i plant clones that are already 2 inches or so and have a good root system goin so they can handle light feedings..ya feel me og's

I just called my local hydroshop in olympia, wa. That stuff is 17.99 a bag! I trust. That its great soil, but if you think ff are the only people in the world who mix good soil and have to pay that price your nuts and lazy for not looking. I use locally mixed soil for 8 bucks a bag. In fact if you live in the northwest try red wizard. The wizard mix was made by a pot farmet for pot farmers. Do your research and don't pay these outlandish prices! My money goes to nutes and setup and I would challenge anyone to do the same.

It's expensive but it has lot's of stuff in it. Bat guano, earthworm castings, fish and crab meal, norwegian kelp meal to name a few. What does this red wizard contain? I don't think it's available everywhere either. :joint:

And don't think there aren't ff reps on all of these forums plugging their products, because that's what they do. I'm not trying to hate on ff either, I love and use some of their products, but you have to draw the line somewhere. I'm not gonna go broke with blind consumer loyalty!

Well, when it comes to good soil or good nutes, I would go witthhhhhhhh...........Good Soil!!!! Bingo, yup good soil. A great soil have good nutes in it. Ive got monsters in Roots and 5 gallons that got food maybe 3 times(less than 1/4 strength) in over a month. No leaf drop. Its real simple.

No its only local to western washington. Ill get a listing of the mix later(I'm just pulling into work so I can't right now) but that aside, you can't tell me that you can't mix most of that in for cheaper, and why the hell do I pay east coast prices for a product that is made so close that I can drive there in 6 to 8 hours. Like I said I love ff, but wow. 20 bucks a bag when I've seen comparable or even better results from much cheaper soils. Now I'm not saying its all about the soil because here is the bottom line... If you want top shelf bud it comes down to the grower. Experience is more important than any brand name. So if your new to growing and you don't know where to start and you can afford it I say yes buy ffof! But I cannot afford it. 600-700 a grow on soil alone (for a single grow) is not what I'm looking for.

Ha! I'm not plugging FF but I was genuinely curious about what's in this red wizard soil. FF can be gotten across the country for the most part. This soil sounds like it's only locally or regionally available. Personally, I do use FF soils because I'm lazy and don't like to mix soil. I actually used to mix my own but I like to try different things and I got good results with FF soils at first. As of late it seems like they've changed their soils and I've noticed a few minor deficiencies that I never used to get. If I can find a good substitute for FF I am totally willing to give it a try. :weed:

Hey I'm not saying people should use mg or any shit soil, but in every county of every state there are people who mix "good soil" and sell it way cheaper. I use excellent soil. Its just way cheaper.

FFOF is working for me.

Clones to FFOF 16 oz -> 1 gallon -> 3 gallon

Just water during veg, start with the nutes according to schedule after I go 12/12.

:weed:

P.S. - Not a sales rep or Vice President, etc.

And btw if I could afford it I'd use ffof. I just simply can't. I'm not a business man, I just grow medicine with no profit. Maybe I need to go black market lol.

I guess one thing I'm big on is also supporting local economy. I buy from my hydroshop-not online, locally mixed soil(I to am to lazy to mix my own even though I can). I'm from norcal originally(santa rosa 707 baby) and miss it dearly, but there are master gardeners and greenhouses allover the country with grow crazy over zealous gardeners that really know their shit. Find em, support em, you may find you can learn a lot from these people as well. They may not be pot farmers but they know botany and have green thumbs like you and me.

I just wanted to add, I mix in a couple handfulls of peralite actually MG which has extrea nutes also,,,,Sprout my seeds in wet papertowels and they go directly in the soil,,,Even if they seem like they are struggling in the seedling stage IMO they will pull through Fattly with some Love.
I'm on the wrong coast and to deep for good soil,,,clay sucks,,,So I gotta use what works no matter what the cost,,,That's just me though,,,Use what works and stick with it..Peace.
