Ozone generators pros/cons??

Looking into designs and options for odor control in a stealth cabinet setup and up to this point i had only looked into carbon filters/fan combos. Im covered there and as I was ready to buy my final choice I looked at some Ozone generators. At this point if they were effective it would be much better for my set up because the model i would need is cheaper, runs almost no power, makes less noise, and i wouldn't have to cut unnecessary vent holes in the box. All this looks fine and dandy but I've heard that Ozone generators have a few down sides like giving off a distinct hospital like smell or doing something to the plants that makes them noticably different come harvest time. If thats true im going to stick with carbon filters but id like to hear if anyone has tried an ozone generator and had success/failure or if anyone can explain why that could potentially mess with the plants.

you wouldn't want to run an ozone gen in the cab w/ the plants as it can take the smell out of the buds when finished & high concentrations of ozone are bad for plants as well as people.if you vent into an unused area that is vented itself,an ozone generator in that area works great.I have vented a grow into a crawlspace under the house that had a venting at the far side to outside.b4 using the ozone generator,you could smell bud outside but w/ an Ozone gen. running in the crawl space,no odor was coming outside.

Go with both....I have a carbon filter at one end taking the air through the lights and the ozone is on the other side of the fan which kills whatever the filter leaves behind....ou can stand next to the room and not smell a thing....

The only prob with ozone is that if there is too much in the air, some people experience respiratory irritation. The half life of ozone is 30 minutes , so if u use it often , make sure kids or pets are away. Otherwise they are great. They do have this weird clean smell though, can't explain it but when I walk into an ozone room, I can tell.

Sorry for the sleepin, kinda forgot about this one and been busy in construction... I decided against the Ozone for sure cuz it would be confined in my little apartment with no venelation output. I did unfortunatly have to skimp out on the full can active carbon filter system i wanted to stuff in this box lol, I went with a cheaper compromise that is working at the moment but im worried about once flowering begins... Does anyone have any experience eliminating odors with a HEPA type standard air filtration system or is it a must to buy the active carbon charcol like can filters?

HEPA style filtration will not take out odors. There are other options but really, IMO, the only two that you can count on are carbon filters and ozone.

I've posted in other threads about the home air purification systems that I use. They are safe for use in a living environment, use ozone as one of their technologies and will eliminate odors of all kinds. They aren't cheap! They retail for $749 but are scaleable in the amount of purification that they provide and, in a normal, everyday home will cover up to 3,000 square feet. If you have heavy odors, such as a grow room, they will still work but won't cover 3,000 sq. ft. If you want more information about them, do a internet search for Ecoquest or Alpine Air. The latest model is the Fresh Air but the old Classic or XL-15 will also work very well.
