Closet grow under staircase.

This is my first post, actually from my iPhone in my first apt. I've got a small closet under a staircase that I'm going to be using for my garden, I was hoping to get some suggestions from everyone on how to get the maximum yield possible in such a small space, I'll be posting pictures of it and I will probably turn this into a running grow journal about space conservation and growing on a tight budget. I have not yet gathered equipment seeds or clones but am looking for what kind of grow I'm gonna be shooting for. I've heard of a method called box of green a variation of the scrog method which just apply use of vertical space as well as horizontal. I'm also going to be setting the light at an angle perpandicular with the staircase. Anyways I'm gonna go ahead and post this for discussion! Happy harvesting

This sounds like a perfect space for a cfl grow. Unless the entry to the crawl space is also in that closet you will have a problem with heat if you run much HID or HPS.

It will be very important to pump the stale air out of here. Let me know if the crawl space door is in that closet also and that will give you a lot more options!

unfortunately there's no crawlspace, for air I was just gonna run a normal oscilating fan, as far as lights I'm not positive on what I want to do, the space is roughly 4spft of floor x 6ft high with the staircase sloping down at roughly 45 degrees, I tried to figure out how to attach a pic with my iPhone seen as how I don't have a net connection otherwise at the moment. My plan is to nestle the light at the top of the slope and angle it so the plants can get all the light. Then run with a box of green style method so not only can I get a horizontal plane of buds going but I can also train then to run up the slope of the Stairs and the boardering walls as well, I haven't decided on where I'm getting my seeds from. Due to paranoia and the seeming inconsistency and unreliability of the webs seedbanks I'm probably gonna snag some local Jack herer bagseed and in the longrun start breeding them. Do you have any personal experience with cfls? The concensus is that the space would be strained with HID lighting, but Its definetly still under consideration. And thanks for the quick response!

I grow with cfl. I fear that will also be your only option. Otherwise you will just cook everything and will be a project in wasted money.

Home depot has like 68 watt cfl's the size of a football. I would personally go with about 6 23 watt and just keep them all mounted over the box. at radio shack for 9.99 you can get a 75 cfm pc fan that you could mount directly over the 6 cfl's pulling the heat away from your plants.

Jack herer is too tall go with red or white dwarf auto flower for good yields in a confined space.

something similar to this.

something similar to this.
power strip 3.49

3 plug sockets 2.49 each, 3 splitter sockets 2.49 each

6 lights like a buck each or so.

Keep the lights 2 inches from vegatation, my pic the lights are too far away, and those are 13 watt cfl's go with 23.

Ive done the cfl thing before, it worked but as soon as i switched to t5s my plants doubled in size. If you can get 4 footers in there, definitely do it. Also ak autoflowers are sick. The dwarfs mentioned above are probably decent too tho.

A great point if you could get some t5's in there that would be ideal. the whole angle staircase things though is really really going to limit you.
Stand the t5's up and put a few cfl's on the other side and rotate your plant every once in a while, could work good. t5's are expensive...
