1st Grow Top Stems Purple?

Durban Poison
Only on upper side of top stems
Indoor
4ft tall
Showing pistil
Otherwise very healthy looking
Water every 4 days with Grow and Bloom
400w HPS and MH

I tried to look all over the forums before posting and saw nothing about purple/rust stems. So I assume it's normal, but being my first grow I'm kinda paranoid.

Hey dude, I'm definitely not an expert or anything, but luckily I came across this picture when I was checking out some strains on the attitude, this might be close to what you got it seems like, and if so I probably wouldn't worry about it if they plant looks healthy otherwise.

genetics or nute def or cold, probally one of those 3 things, since you say it all looks good i highly doubt its a nute def, you would see that on the older growth too, i doubt its too cold, so that leaves genetics probally.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's not nutes just because it's not a uniform throughout the entire stem system. And I have trouble with the tent getting over 80 degrees so I can rule out the cold factor. Hopefully it's just genetics.

Thanx for the input fellas.

Can a bit too much light change the pigments in the leaf stems?

I recently raised my lights to my GDP's delight and noticed I had similar discoloration on the upper halves of the leaf stems across most of the plant.

no, i dont think so, red stems are very common, dont worry over them unless your plant/s look like they are suffering cuz then it could indicate a problem but as long as they are happy your good to go.
