Walmart. What Do You Think?

They have a responsibility to pay you the wage you AGREED to when you were hired.

A much better question is why do you feel that people are entitled to be paid more than they are worth?

And why do you think that living high on the hog is a basic necessity? I work in Detroit and every day I see supposedly "poor" people driving Hummers with 24"spinner rims while living in a $10,000 house and using food stamps.

Few bottom tear Walmart workers are supporting families. Most of them are kids, retired people or wifes bringing in second incomes. According to the their published numbers they are paying just under $10/hr and as people stated here they also pay benefits. That is damn fair by any standards.

I do believe employers have a moral obligation to at least pay a fair wage and it seems Walmart is. However, I can not stand this mentality that people have that makes them feel they are entitled to earn a given wage.

And unions while having done good in the past are now one of the largest problems in the US. The UAW with their greed and entitlement mentality has destroyed the auto industry and therefore the state of Michigan pretty much single handedly. And now they all have the gall to drive around with those stupid bumper stickers about buying foreign. I want to print one up that says "lost your home? Thank the UAW."

I used to be in the IBEW and what I saw was a bunch of guys who pretty much stone walled other people from working so they could make far more than they were worth. And they felt absolutely entitled to it. Disgusting is what it was.
So, who are you to decide what people are worth? Oh that's right, you claim to own a factory. I'll bet working at your place is a real bitch. Unions built the middle class. Republicans and conservatives have been trying to dismantle it for 50+ years. Looks like them and the wallstreet pukes and the Banksters have almost got-er-done. Wont be long till there is only the rich and the poor, no more middle class. Yup, you can all go work at Ricks place for 50 cents an hour and all the crap he can hand out.

The food isn't the worst. I hate Walmart. Fuckers fired my for ordering food while on work. They have their own little FBI team watching over the store.
Nope, they didn't fire you for "ordering food," they fired you for stealing your pay. Ordering food comes at lunch time on your own time, not on company time.

not really interested in the video. i am interested in good prices for competetive products. they fit the bill.

when i was a kid levis jeans cost 25 bucks, mid 70's. we were very poor so we got 1 pair at the beginning of the school year.

i now buy them for 20 bucks at walmart. that alone has benefitted my family. not to mention the other things.

they also employed my brother for 5 years at close to 20 bucks an hour plus good benies.

thats all i need to know.
Check out the Kirkland brand of jeans at Costco. Great quality and fit for only $12.99. Those are the only jeans I wear now.

I can't argue with this, unless he was on his lunch time.
Hi, Med ...

Any thoughts on what Government employee unions and union pensions have done to California?

I'm sure you've heard that California has a 20 billion dollar budget deficit, but are you also aware that California has a 550 billion dollar debt? We have government retirees with 30 years of service getting 90% of their last year's salary, plus free medical and dental for the rest of their lives. California is more than broke, it is broken. :leaf:

Free market capitalism built the middle class. The unions and their organized crime thug partners just went along for the ride. Gradually dismantling the free market in the process, and replacing it with Corporatism with the help of political elitists.

Unions succeeded in crippling the auto industry to the point where it could no longer be competitive, and bankrupting an airline or two. Teachers unions destroyed public education. Now most union members are government employees.

The same government employees who act as our Lord and Master at the tax assessors office, terrorize us as they 'police' us, and file their nails at the driver's license bureau while we wait in line.

Welcome back.

if you were living through the mid 1900's. if you lived in the mid 1800's you would think about all the barns, stables, hithcin posts etc. its all relative.

and those mom and pop grocery stores or whatever existed are being repopulated by different business.

my town used to have 6 jewelry stores in a 5 block downtown (my town is about 3000 population) which thrived. now there is 2. but there is a flower shop, a arts and craft place, a dentist.

when my children are as old as me they will be saying remember when we had XXX but it wont be 6 jewelry stores in 5 blocks.

who knows in 20 years we may not even have to leave the house to shop. and then my kids will be saying, "remember when we used to have a walmart up on the hill? those were the good ole days."

edit and your sun dried tomatoes is an excellent example. if you have found a niche for them in your area, thats the way all business starts, walmart or otherwise. think about when you were young, there were no "organic" stores. now there are.
thats what im talking about those mom and pop stors are disappearing and nothing is taking place everything is moving to the stripmall up the road and the town is full of nothing but empty buildings we have a thrift shop a auto prts store and a few other thing around but we have more empty buildings than we have buissnesses. if i lived through the 1900's i would probably be saying, dang look at all the progress we have made than a little while down the road i would be saying wait what happend, this community was thriving and growing now its a gohst town whats going on.

reasons for this may not all be caused by wallmart but they aren't really helping that much.

Wal-Mart has done a number on local businesses wherever it has opened a new store.

And after Sam Walton died, the company stopped promoting American made products.

I don't have any grievance against Wal-Mart. But I will say it is better support local business whenever possible and keep your money local.

Thanks, really never left, just don't hang out here as much as before, found other things to occupy my life, now to the point:
Wow, you are really warped Johnny. I guess there is really no hope for you. You have been totally brainwashed by the conservative movement. I know a few of those types, their asses are plugged tight, they are on edge every moment, looking over their shoulders for the boogymen (Liberals) that are coming to get their money. Relax dude, I personally don't want a goddamn thing from you or your type. Everything I've got, I've earned. No handouts for Medi. I have everything I need and some I don't. Your evaluation of me is faulted. You tend to (As most conservatives) label everything you don't understand. You tend to call those with less than you lazy or worthless, and suppose they are coming for your valuables. I aint coming Johnny, Relax. BTW, I'm neither lazy, Well maybe a little, or worthless, well, I'm certainly worth less than I was a couple a years ago.

Couldn't refute anything I stated, but you just could not resist responding anyway. Fucking priceless!

How's this for boogeymen, Meddie? Evil capitalists! Righties! Tea-baggers! :fire:

I am relaxed, Meddie. And 'they' are not coming to get my money because I fly under the radar, and will continue to do so until the storm passes.

Shrugging has worked out real well for me.

I am not worried about you or any other brokedick with a perceived grievance who may think they are owed something.

I may be warped, but you are an old fool. :dunce:

Isn't it interesting how the term "tea baggers" has been used by progressives to denigrate the Tea Party movement? Hahaha ... as though true tea baggers are something the conservatives support. WTF, tea baggers are supported whole hog by progressive. They want special privileges, rules and laws for tea baggers. Hell, they even want tea baggers to run all over established religions and have those religions recognize tea bagger marriages.

Honestly, you guyz on the left crack me up.
