Hi so I found these two bulbs in my garage. They are both from
home depot and are 30w actual and 125w equiv. They are spiral CFL each in their own clamp hood about 2 inches from my seedling. Will they grow? If not what kind of flor. Should I buy. A picture would be awesome if someone could post it so I know what it would look like and if they will fit in my regular clamp hood light fixtures.

Is there a difference between CFLs that you woul put in a lamp and a grow CFL??
Please help I don't know what the hell I'm doing and just want to do everything right

they are the right kind of bulb.. the only thing that you don't know is that kelvin rating of them, but you should be able to tell by looking at them.. do they give off a white lookin light or a more red color? if they give off a white color then they are what you want.. the 6500k are for veg, and the 2700k are for flowering.

Sweet so yeah the lights give a white light. The package says that's the type is "bright white" compact fluorescent. I don't understand this 6500k and 2700k. What CFL creates the 2700k? Thank you

Alright, I had success using CFLs for 1 plant... and I'll tell you my experience...
I use 2 42 Watt Bulbs (150 watt Equiv) and 2 26 Watt bulbs (100W equiv) on the plant.... and she produced like 13g of dried bud (see my avatar).

your bulbs will only be good for the seedling stage of 1 plant.... you want at least 200 FLUOROwatts per plant, not equivalant..... to get bare minimum..... honestly CFLs are good only if you are trying to hide it from someone, but if you don't need to hide your grow I highly recommend HID lighting.

edit: the 42 watt bulbs are the 2700 Kelvin (Warm White) and the 26 Watt ones are the 6500 Kelvin (Daylight) bulbs.

So basically I need to get different lights because the two that I am using aren't 1) don't have enough wattage because the are 30w actual. 2) I only have two and I need a total of 4 lights going on it at a time. 2 42w and 2 26w?

I found a 400w HPS and MH combo light system on the net. Should I just stop playing around and buy that. It's only $164..... Brand new

Honestly, yes. CFLs are only for grandmas closet type of grows. If you really wanna have a good grow, and get a decent yield (not just a crappy 10-14grams) then yes, just buy the HID. You will be pleasantly supplied.

So say I were to buy this HPS/MH combo set up. Can you kinda break it down for me in what I have to do with how long the lights need to be on for which state. And how much of a yield would I get per plant using the HPS light as appoused to the CFLs??

Thank you. You've been very helpful
