Going away for spring break... what the fuck am i going to do!?

Hey guys, I am going away for spring break (1 week) and my plants aren't going to get watered for that week. I figured I would do a nice watering just before I left but that obviously won't do for the entire week. My plants are going to be almost ready for harvest by that time just for some extra info. But anyways, I was thinking about getting some rocks to cover the top of my soil to increase water retention and also getting a pair of aqua globes just for that week. Any advice or input would be great. Thanks!

This is what an aqua globe is in case you didn't know. https://www.buyaquaglobes.com/

You have some good idea, and I think the globes will work really well. I'd like to suggest covering the tops of the pots with black plastic, to help keep water in. The rocks would help, but the plastic would seal them alot better. That, and the globes should work great.

One more thing....If you're sure they'll be done by then, you could do it the easy way and water the hell out of them, let them go dry until you get home, then harvest. Alot of guys let their plants dry in the pots, some swear by it, so that's something to consider. :)

i usually leave them to dry in the pot, kind of curing t a bit when let to dry naturally... thats only a personal opion, not based on any knowledge more than my own experience...

as i go away all the time i plant my seedlngs in these pots that can hold the necessary water amount for the plant for up to 10 days. not sure what they are called , selfwatering pots or something like that, anyways u fill upp the water and the roots suck up what they need, so there is no risk for overwatering.
i have also noticed that the water amount does NOT last 2 weeks... :( sad story but so it goes...

springbreak in jamaca perhaps? negril is alright vibes and good herbs...

obviously i meant jamaica not jamaca :)
the aquaglobes seem good, but u need to try them out before going so u see for how long they actually water the plant. it doesn't say how much water they hold, but it should work!
i tried with some kind of jelly that holds water and dries out while the plant takes the water from it, it wasnt that good, but a few of them on each plant made it alright for a week.

hate to be a bitch..
but hydroponics fixes this prob.
i would soak them RELE good and possible put a humidifier in the room and fill it up with water to keep high moisture
during your week away. turn it on RIGHT before you leave for a day or two of wet leaves
just an idea

Thanks guys, I think i might just water them before I leave and let them dry during that week because I think they might be done by then but I am not sure. Either way, aqua globes and rocks :)

For security reasons I would break it down. The idea of having a grow at home while I am away scares the shit out of me.

make your own aquaglobes. take any long neck bottle, I used a cuervo bottle and poke holes in the cap. Fill it with water and jam it in the dirt. as the dirt dries it will suck whatever water it needs from the bottle. same concept, but free.

Dude.... Don't use Black Plastic to cover the pots!! Black will absorb the radiated energy (heat). This will turn your pots into a mini oven and actually quicken moisture evaporation. You want to keep temps near where your water is (in the pot) as low as possible as the lower the temperature, the less excited water moluecues are and the slower you will force evaporation.. Just my opinion but I would use white or some other reflective material (mylar?) instead.. If you are gone, I figure every little bit will help..
