I just found out what I bought my hubby for Christmas!!!:?
A fishing ROD!!!:-|
Ok I understand this is a personal item so its probably best that he bought it himself so I thought I would get him a tackle box. He got a bonus from work and is getting one.

Ok so now that he has taken all the :o:clap::-P excitement of 'giving' away :wall: what do I get him now???:confused:I KNOW he is really into fishing because:

1/he was gone every weekend last summer and fall with his buddy on the boat
2/ he plays fishing games on his Xbox
3/ has about 20 fishing videos he borrowed from someone
4/ (my favourite:roll:) fishing shows 'every' weekend
5/ his old tackle box is full and he recently bought a 'fishing lure kit'....its really funny.....:lol::lol:.. All kinds of eyes :shock: and hooks and stuff!!!:-|

I've researched online BUT its difficult to find honest info because so much of it is sponsored. Hubby said the best advice about fishing is to ask other guys.:confused: I don't have a lot of male friends sooooooo

Ok other guys!!! Any suggestions?

The topic is fishing guys. Fishing!!!!!

Get him a decent "Fish Finder", and he'll love you for it. Going out and the boat and leaving it to mother nature is good, but no one can resist the technology of a "fish radar". Although I think it technically uses sonar. There are several cheaper ones that work fairly well.

It can substantially increase the amount of fish he'll be able to catch in an outing by directing him to where schools congregate. Plus it helps in finding the larger fish that are usually so elusive.

YES!!! That sounds like a good idea. I thought the boat had one but apparently its just a sample testing kind of thing.
So would I look up fish radar. They sound really expensive but just like anything, I guess it depends on the quality and everything.
Thanks Ethnonotanist

Umm. The Boat Radar!!
I just finished looking that up and :osince I'm NOT independently wealthy and we don't have a boat yet I think I will have to pass.

Thanks anyway. I'll keep looking. :-|

I was thinking more of little things I could add to the already generous fishing rod I bought. :?

Awww fishing, haven't been for ages and i miss it..

I suppose it depends also if it's freshwater or on the ocean, like where does he fish, dams, rivers?

We live in Ontario Canada so they usually go up north on the small lakes but we have a canoe so they are talking about going to the rivers and stuff. They talked about ice fishing BUT I doubt that they will do that since my hubby doesn't drink and it seems to be a drinking thing more than a fishing thing.

I don't know much about this.

I know bass are greenish.:-|
I know catfish have whiskers :mrgreen:and
I know what spinners are......:roll: (they're funny looking things too)

hmm yeah it might be hard to buy him stuff as it's usually preference as to what lures etc he prefers.. you could always buy him a cool tacklebox and fill it with an assortment of goodies.. I know he must have one but usually guys will have a few... so maybe goto the fishing shop, pick out a cool tacklebox and tell the store guy that you want lures, sinkers etc for fishing on dams or tell him specifically what he is fishing for ie bass, catfish..if thats what he fishes for. Then he will get a nice tacklebox with cool little goodies inside when he opens it...I know I would enjoy that

Yes that sounds like a good idea but he is buying a bigger tackle box with his Christmas bonus. That was what i was originally going to get him.

I don't think he fishes for cat fish but I know he has brought home bass fish to eat before. Most of the others they through back. I think they fish for pike, bass, hmm I dunno??? I have to think about that one also I suppose.

He has recently been talking about getting or making bigger lures to catch bigger fish. He says that is what the guys at his work have been saying recently to him.

I'm not in a big hurry so i have some time to think about it.
Thanks Harkin!:mrgreen::blsmoke::peace:
