I've been meaning to ask y'all dems - how come Obama's coalition on Afghanistan is crumbling? Everyday we hear of another country pulling out its troops. Obama told us (at West Point, (remember the cadets falling asleep?) that the addition 30,000 American troops he was sending would lead our allies to send more of their own and build an international coalition instead of america shouldering the task.

You are failing to address the main point, Bush largely forgot about Afghanistan while trying to micro-manage Iraq. This flies in the face of the Republican narrative that Obama is "soft on terrorism". These are actual quantifiable numbers, are you willing to admit that Obama has done more in Afghanistan than Bush?

He tried to make it his hawkish moment and I have no problem with what our troops are doing there. But Obama has failed miserably on his promise to get more international troops involved. Instead he has lost them all, and we are doing it all alone. No wonder the europeans loved him so much, they suspected he let america do the work while they sit on their asses, and he bows to them.
Or could it be that after 8 years of doing basically nothing the Europeans are ready to stop sacrificing their youth for something that has nothing to do with them. I love the Brits but wouldn't have wasted a single American life if they had gone after Yemen or some other random country after 7/7, why should we expect them to stick around for Afghanistan?
I frankly could care less about foreign troops in Afghanistan since they are largely symbolic in the first place. The French paid off the Taliban, the Germans are almost alway reluctant to engage and American airpower is dropping almost all the ordinance.
I also challenge your assertion that the Euros are leaving in droves. Do you have any citations?

Actually your ignorant retort brings up a good point. The Pakistani ISI has actually been handing over a couple of people it was shielding. It really shows a sea change from the Pakistani military which was the absolute opposite during the Bush administration.
The economy. Without the defense sector our economy would be much worse than it is today. Shit we give Israel millions of dollars a year and just "hope" they spend some of it here.
