do you really not understand CJ's point?
now you want benefits?
i guess that goes along with marriage, might as well toss in some housing.
i tried to address the "peeking at my penis thing" and was simply called names. It's about the unit, not the individual. So, maybe they should be consistent, if this is just about keeping personal issues out of the military. Don't ask, don't tell - if you're vegetarian, atheist, christian, straight and married, you have kids, etc.. They should start discharging anyone who admits to being christian - it's distracting, they're not there to talk about personal lives.
Obviously, it's not just about keeping personal lives out of it. It's because homosexuality makes a lot of people uncomfortable.
And, if it's decided that it causes too many issues, and people aren't mature enough to get over phobias... then maybe we do need don't ask don't tell. But, don't pretend it's just a simple matter of keeping all personal issues out of the military - it's all about this specific issue.

i personally might not fear it, but there are people out there who will NEVER accept it. i just try to bring it ALL to the table. these aren't MY personal opinions. most of them aren't anyways.

You may have a point there. Maybe it's just too uncomfortable. Though, having 'don't ask, don't tell' in place is not stopping any penis peeking, is it?
I've never been in the military, so won't even try to claim to know what's best, though I personally don't get the big hang up with what kind of relationships other people have. I was really just saying that the argument about it just being about keeping personal matters out of the military doesn't fly with me - it's all about homosexuality specifically.
Also, the point about gays needing to parade around telling everyone that they're gay doesn't work for me. I have a few gay friends and they don't go around announcing their gayness. Sure, if a gay was doing that, it would be distracting - just like a soldier running around, yelling that his kids are the greatest kids in the world would be distracting. That kind of thing should not be allowed. But, people quietly talking about their lives back at home in their free time is a separate thing.
You may not like to talk about your personal life, but I'm sure others do. It happens.why would anyone care what my wife's name was?
why not end it at "are you married?", .. "yes".
why you take it up to the point of sexuality? who the fuck cares?
why do gays insist upon letting us know they are gay? it's as if they seek acceptance.
when i say "i don't care". that means i don't care. in other words, don't tell me.
i don't ask my friend about their sex lives. my best buddy could smoke pole in his free time. i wouldn't know, we don't really go over that stuff together.
gays want to let me known they are gay so i will say "cool". that's what i really see.
let gays in the military. i don't care.
Personal life is obviously an issue within the military because DADT is in policy. If everyone didn't talk about their home life then what issue would it be if gays served? It's about the unit, not the individual. So, maybe they should be consistent, if this is just about keeping personal issues out of the military. your friends might not do it, but there are many other who do.
I shouldn't laugh, but that is funny. You meant this to be funny, right?send all the gays to the wars while i look after the women. maybe with enough gays and gays in the military the gay gene will vanish from the gene pool. i know by definition gays are soposed to be non breeders but after a few drinks maybe they forget their gay and end up passing on the gay genetics. gays in the military might increase the likely hood of the gays becoming extinct especially if their are major conflicts.
have a promblem with this rick. say you have an employee that is tops in every way. she/he starts through a divorce through no apparent reason?I bet nearly everyone in this thread thinks the military ought to ban proselytizing your religious beliefs.
My attitude toward life in general is if you can't leave your personal crap at home stay there. As an employer, I don't want to hear anyone's crap. If you are in a bad mood, fix it before you punch in. If you are having other issues, you better not be thinking about them while on my clock - keep you mind focused on work or go home. And you are more than welcome to practice free speech at home, while at work you will say what I tell you to say and behave like I tell you to behave. If you have a problem with that - go home.
Quite Frankly, I can't imagine anyone trying to run a business any other way. All this touchy feely stuff is a load of crap and we are all worse for buying into it. And that is exactly how it should be in the military. Why would soldiers even thinking about their personal issues when they ought to be thinking about what they are told to think about.
Is the military for training killing machines or for listening to people's problems?
