Drying and curing... how long to do so

I want to do this the best way. I read somewhere to dry for a week and a half, and then to put your nug's in a jar for a month opening the lid every day for 10 seconds. Is this the correct way to cure it or do i need to leave the lid off for longer periods during the day?

dry by sight and touch, not by schedule... every plant/bud/jar dries different.
hang the bud till the stems snap, not bend, then cure to taste afterthat in jars.
in only gets better with age. some people like to cure as long as 6-12 months, some people only go 2-4 weeks. its matter of preference.
i usually go 30-40 days and burp the jar for 5 mins every 2 days in that time.

there plenty of threads on this but hes right go by the stem snapping technique
and for curing it should go at least two weeks to make a difference

Niceee. I have heard that if you dry too quickly buds will taste bad? like pine needles or shit. Any truth in that?

So what exactly does the curing stage do for the buds? Just trying to understand that part a little better.

From what i understand it diminishes the chloroplasts, dries the buds evenly, and allows for max turpine production (the smells/tastes). I don't know a lot though I havn't even gotten to that stage of my first grow, but from what i read thats about it. Apparently it also allows for some of the THC precursors (whatever those are i can't remember) to turn into THC through whatever process. Again all of this from just reading.
