My bad luck with Miracle Gro organic soil

I'm a newbie too, been growing like a month now, but I want to let the other newbies know the bad luck I've had using Miracle Gro organic soil. The seedlings did okay for a while, but grew really slow, and developed spots when they reached six inches or so... I am unable to get the recommended fox farm soil where I live, so I went to the garden center and got their own potting mix, which was mostly top soil, with perlite that I added. Now they are doing great... perked right up. Just wanted to share my experience with MG to help the other newbies decide when it comes time.

i use the regular miracle grow potting soil and have great results (5 yrs now). tried the organic and didnt like it. i have a brown thumb so the easiest is the best for me. i use almost 100% MG products. dirt, time release nutes, even the little green spikes. they are almost fool proof. good luck with your grow.

I hear ya, alot of ppl bash M.G. That's all I ever use, soil and nutes. You just have to give a little tlc and your plants will grow great. You just have to get used to using it that's all, same with all other soils and nutes.

i use mg but i mix it w/perlite, sand, peatmoss so its not full strength if used straight it tend s to pck down, i use it for my house plants too, just dont feed the first few weeks, read the bag, just dont burn your plants, ive got ww in 8th week of flower and they are doing good, just dont use it straight, good luck

I LOVE MG MOISTER CONTROL!- I tried organic once, aborted my babies 1 month in, fungal nats, it was garbage, BUY THE MC ( BLUE/GREEN BAG)

used it 2+ years now cut 30% w/perlite, no nutes in veg, i transplant 1 month in to the final container, total veg of 2 months, then switch to Flowering using AN sensi bloom + extras, AMAZING RESULTS

im using organic MG and dont seem to be having any problems, been using it my whole grow. just mixed with some perlite and called it a day
but on the other hand, i have heard that MG isnt the best to be using so im on my toes

i mixed miracle grow organic top soil with reguar miracle grow potting soil and added worm castings, vermiculite, perilite, and some fox farms marine cuisine time release fertilizer(10-7-7) and put about an inch of drainage rock at the bottom of the pots. I had to add a little blood meal for nitrogen during veg but thats it. it carried my plants through their veg. now that ive flushed them twice and they are in flowering im having to fert them ever week when i water.

Again, I'm not bashing MG organic, I was only sharing my experience with it. I've heard a lot of people do fine. I wish I could achieve that because it's relatively inexpensive.

i just picked up some MG organic garden soil, not the potting kind bc it has time released nutes, so I'm hoping that works. has anyone tried the MG starting mix?

I've used mg organic my whole grow. I had mite probs. but other than that they are doing fine. ff grow big and tiger bloom nutes. Here is pics 3 weeks flowering.

curious if it was the MG Organic Potting soil or the MG Organic Garden soil
the potting soil is in the smaller bag inside stores
the garden soil is outside usually and is in 60 lb bags(or so)
i've had great luck with the garden soil, not so sure of the organic potting soil

i've had good results with moisture control.. but with organic it burn my seedlings(2 to death) , and one is stunted and is just starting to grow.i've used alot of soils.. both of those mg's, scotts organic, foxfarm, Just Right Xtra. and sunshine mix. the thing i noticed is that with mg/scott soils compared to the more expensive one's after seedling growth is they veg a bit faster except with sunshine because it doesnt really have anything in it except for a little nitrogen.. but i do like i just needed alot of perlite

I am having the same problem with spotting. Had to leave my bBies alone for four days but whichever ones survive I will be moving to a hand mixed organic soil with sand and castings with other organic bits.

i was using mg organic potting in the beginning, but now i am using a mix of sunshine mix and fox farm light warrior.

from what i've seen mg potting organic is on the alkaline side, that's not a good ph for MJ usually
i also think the potting has 'organic time release' stuff
the garden soil is peat moss, composted wood products, and poultry litter, and is quite acidic
these are 2 very different soils but seem to get lumped together

mg organic potting is also not for seedlings it is for re-potting older already potted plants like store bought plants and such

I also had the same problem with this soil last year. I used to use the regular miracle grow and than I thought o organic MG that's cool but it's not. My plants basically sstopped growing at 6 inches too and i transplanted into a better mix and they did just fine but were probably only 18" tall.
