Some advice on My drying Box

Thanks for all the positive coments guys.
I will keep you all updated when i finally chop my girl down and dry her.
I think i will try and do a day by day photo for you all. I will also put my manicuring pics in here when i have them.

Hey Golddog You like my idea then of mounting those fans in the little boxes?

The pull from the top fan is imense i may have to keep a close eye on temps as i dont want it getting too cold in the box. However the ambient temperature in the room where my closet grow and dry box will be is around the 21C or 70F this should help the temp in the dry box stay quite even.

I'll keep you all updated with any and every change that i either have to make or want to make..

I will see how bad the smell is from my first harvest and see whether i need to add a carbon filter to the exhaust fan. Thanks for that idea PSEUDO JUDO

another thought i have just had is that in these DIY stores BandQ homebase etc you can buy carbon sheets that go inside your cooker hood to help with smell. I could stick one inside the little box and see how that works. They will be alot cheaper than buying a carbon filter that will fit.

the smell won't be any worse than it is now, unless youre fingering it all the time just to sniff it.

honestly, it's fun to build contraptions, but you don't need the box. just hang it in the closet. the purpose of hanging pot in the dark is to allow the chlorophyll to degrade...that process takes a few days.

if you're in a hurry, you might try just hanging one branch in the box and the rest in the closet and see how they both work out.

The closet will still be in use when this lady is harvested. I still have 4 Cheese plants growing that arent ready to be harvested.

thanks for the advice i appreciate it but everyone else with more experience on this site and those which i trust have said that this box will work fine and i beleive them. No Offence but you joined in june of last year and have only posted 64 times on this site. So i thank you for your comments but im fine with what i have done.

Also if i was in a hurry i wouldnt be curing for as long as possible after i have dried. I plan on curing for at least 4 weeks before i allow anyone to smoke it.

Ofcourse i might try some myself before the 4 week curing is finished lol

That looks fantastic, I was just thinking of a similiar box but with wood. Question for the more experienced guys, is it possible to install say a carbon filter or ozonator within the box to remove any odors?

I don't know why you would try to kill the smell in the box. The box is a good place for the smell to be. clean the air outside the box. My thoughts and reason why I went with cardboard. I feel the cardboard helps pull moisture from the bud. I do no venting from the box. keep it sealed and get very little smell outside the box. But when you open it watch out it will hit you in the face.

im going to add 2 boxes over those holes and rig a PC fan to a mobile phone charger 5v.

and just try that once dry i have my mason jars ready for curing

???? what are the fans doing are they sucking or blowing which is doing what

i made one kinda like what you have but just left the face off and hanged it in one of my closets. after about a week to 10 days they were dry enough to put in to the jars, for crueing. your box was a good ideal, and will work for ya. although i didnt have a fan on them as you do. they still dryed nicely. fan will speed up the process. good job man

My concern was the smell leaving the box if I'd have a fan(s) installed.

hey everyone.

was just wondering if i should run the fans in my drying box constantly or whether i should run the fans for 12on 12off?
12 12 would be easy to do as i could plug it into my grow room timer.
what does everyone think???

If the box was sealed I would do 24 hr fan. that small box you could get away with one fan and 12 hr or less. sealed as in no outside fan.

My box will be sealed on top but where the fans are will remain open, small fist sized holes.

i think i will run the fans for 12 hours a day and check them daily. i might use your sack idea for when im not running the fans during the 12off period.

would this be a good or bad idea do u think?

I use the bag to keep moisture in. thats why I seal it up with a fan inside. My take on it. The moisture leaves the bud and goes into the cardboard. the fan helps to get the moisture out of the buds and push it into the card board. Takes 3-5 days and ready for the jars.
