The penalty in TEXAS that I found was 2 years. He must have fallen victim to a 3 strikes law or something. Jurors can always choose to acquit, but most are intimidated by the judge.

He could have assaulted somebody, arguably even murdered somebody and gotten less time. The nature of his crime was "victimless".

Where is the victim he perpetrated his "crime" against? Can you answer that?

Drug laws within 1,000 feet of schools? So if he were 999 feet from a school some horrible thing will happen, that magically will not happen at 1,001 feet?
How many liquor stores do you think are within that 1,000 feet? How many pharmacies that sell "pixie dust" ?

Do you maintain he deserves the sentence somehow? Is that what you would have given him if you were the judge? Tell me what you would have done.

The worst thing you can do to a person is take away their liberty. There is NO excuse to do that to somebody that hasn't harmed another.

He was sentenced for more than 4 ounces but less than 5 pounds. If I'm missing something, please point it out.
