Trying to find the right strain for my needs. Any Ideas?

Hey everyone,

I suffer from severe depression, anxiety, nausea and on occasion head aches of the worst kind.

I know that I am looking for a Sativa strain as my research says they are primarily mood lifting. I have looked at guides to strains on here though and I just would like to hear from someone who uses a strain for similar symptoms.

A strain I can trust if you will from people who battle depression.

So, any advice guys?

I have not broken down this compiled list of medical specific strains to just depression as I feel it will be more beneficial to many with varying ailments/diseases. You can use your browsers 'Find on this page' funtion (with IE) to quickly locate strains containing the word 'depression'. Hope this helps, as I am a pain sufferer and my spouse has MS.

I would not take this 'list' as an ultimate authority, as everyone is different and react differently to meds. What I would do is look at the strains that all list 'pain' and study thier lineage. Are they Indica or Sativa dominant? Start looking for common parents in strains and that will help you narrow down what other strains may also work well. Good luck!

Afghani #1 is a classic. Compact, easy to grow, and potent, it is exactly what you’d expect out of a landrace Afghani. Lots of resin production and a hashy, earthy taste and its couchlock indica high are great, though they don’t often measure up to today’s fancy hybrids.

AK-47

Big Bud
Lineage: Skunk #1 x Afghani

If you’re looking to get the highest yield per plant possible, Big Bud is where it’s at. Unfortunately, its other characteristics don’t match its yield. It has a skunky but not powerful smell, and the high is typically indica. Between its low potency and the low ceiling of the high, it doesn’t make the best medical [URL="https://www.rollitup.org/"][URL="https://www.rollitup.org/"]marijuana[/URL][/URL]. Mr. Nice’s Critical Mass is a rebreed of Big Bud that fixes some of the potency issues. Big Bud is also very susceptible to bud rot and other kinds of mold.

Cinderella 99

If you want a sativa high but don’t have the room or the time to do it, C99 is for you. The high is all sativa—heady and racy. But it flowers very quickly, and though it’s stretchy, it’s nothing like growing a full sativa. The taste and smell are a combination of citrus and floral, very refreshing.

F-13

It takes forever to flower, needs a ton of headroom, and is very sensitive to nutrients, so it’s not recommended for beginners.

New York City Diesel

Northern Lights #5

Sour Diesel

Sour Diesel has a stench like no other: citrus sour with ammonia, diesel fuel and skunk. It punches you in the face with an extremely powerful high and doesn’t let go. That is what I want. I don't want to bounce off the walls, but I want to be able to have the drive to get out of bed or do things that need to get done.

I have heard AK-47 and White Castle are good, but I have never tried those.

Are the "white" sativa strains smelly to grow? I know sour diesel can stink up a whole house. lol.

Anything you grow is going to smell unless you use filters. And as a general rule, for your condition, smoke sativas not indicas period.
