I am a California Medicinal user.

IN California, weed goes for about 2200-3200 a pound (up north anyway). By growing two pounds of weed (which can be very expensive), I can make enough money to pay for my expenses, and keep myself in medicine to keep me healthy.

It is this economic model and ONLY this economic model that has led to the FANTASTIC strains in Northern California that you can buy in any club for 15-25 bucks a gram.

If it is legalized, say goodbye to the independent grower-for-profit, goodbye to the Hydro shop on the corner, and hello to shitty pipes and shitty weed everywhere for dirt cheap.

Let's keep this a Grey area in California, shall we?

People have their careers invested here. Unorthodox careers, yes...but so many are these days.

I'm voting "NO" in NOvember.

What do you all think?

so, it's a simple matter of how it will cut into your profit? you would rather see people prosecuted than allow others to legally take a share of that market? at least rick's objections were based on moral ground, however shaky it may be.

You could make an honest living growing pot if it were legal, you would just have to be better and more efficient. Just ask tomato growers.

My advice to you would be to get a real job or get better at growing. You really want to continue prohibition just so your lazy ass can make an easy buck?

i would support a local grower if i knew his shit was better then mine and if he kept weed
i mean think about we dont grow are own tomatoo be cause the store has it better and is always ready and it is a fair price (most important)
really weed shouldn't cost more then 300-500 a lb (i know i'm going to catch hell for saying that )
like maybe 20-25 an oz
and i say this for all types of weed
now if the guy at the cornner could offer me that and keep weed all the time and the smoke was at the least a 6 i would have no need to grow my own except out of novalty

I think keeping good people out of prison is better than letting you keep your monopoly on selling weed to the highest bidder. I can't see how legalizing it would make weed shittier. More people would be inclined to grow and experiment, which would mean more and better varieties. The shit should be growing by the side of the road and be completely free for all to use. Its people like you that fuck it up for the rest of us. You are sounding just like a pharmaceutical or petro-chemical company. You only have your own pocket in mind and not the freedoms that we should all be able to enjoy. I hope your greed is your un-doing.

EVERYONE should really read it, ... http://www.taxcannabis.org/index.php/pages/initiative/

one thing i noticed:

you can only grow a 25 square foot garden per household. if 5 smokers live at one address they still only get 1 small garden and an ounce each.

how do you grow an ounce? how do you supply yourself when you can only posses an ounce. i did the math and i, personally, smoke 3 pounds a year. how will i grow enough to supply myself?

what about all the people who don't grow? i live in a medical state. i know more people WITH CARDS who DON'T grow, then i do who do. you won't be allowed to sell it, so how will those who don't grow get it?

there is A LOT more to this than "free pot for everyone".

Article 5 of Chapter 5 of Division 10 of the Health and Safety Code, commencing with section 11300 is added to read:
Section 11300: Personal Regulation and Controls
(a) Notwithstanding any other provision of law, it is lawful and shall not be a public offense under California law for any person 21 years of age or older to:
(i) Personally possess, process, share, or transport not more than one ounce of cannabis, solely for that individual’s personal consumption, and not for sale.
(ii) Cultivate, on private property by the owner, lawful occupant, or other lawful resident or guest of the private property owner or lawful occupant, cannabis plants for personal consumption only, in an area of not more than twenty-five square feet per private residence or, in the absence of any residence, the parcel. Cultivation on leased or rented property may be subject to approval from the owner of the property. Provided that, nothing in this section shall permit unlawful or unlicensed cultivation of cannabis on any public lands.
(iii) Possess on the premises where grown the living and harvested plants and results of any harvest and processing of plants lawfully cultivated pursuant to section 11300(a)(ii), for personal consumption.
(iv) Possess objects, items, tools, equipment, products and materials associated with activities permitted under this subsection.
(b) “Personal consumption” shall include but is not limited to possession and consumption, in any form, of cannabis in a residence or other non-public place, and shall include licensed premises open to the public authorized to permit on-premises consumption of cannabis by a local government pursuant to section 11301.
(c) “Personal consumption” shall not include, and nothing in this Act shall permit cannabis:
(i) possession for sale regardless of amount, except by a person who is licensed or permitted to do so under the terms of an ordinance adopted pursuant to section 11301;
(ii) consumption in public or in a public place;
(iii) consumption by the operator of any vehicle, boat or aircraft while it is being operated, or that impairs the operator;
(iv) smoking cannabis in any space while minors are present.

we can always rewrite and revote next year. sometimes it's best to take things slow. we don't just get one chance. if it doesn't pass this time it can be fixed. :)

This all about me. I'm good so fuck the rest of you.

If the independent growers are willing to go legit and meet the Regulatory requirements of re-legalization, they will be fine. More than fine. In fact, Humbolt County stands to be the Napa Valley of cannabis if the growers there play their cards right.

Based on your argument, you seem to think crappy mass produced weed does not exist now. It does. It's called schwag.

Let the industry legitimize and we will see taxed, regulated, safe schwag.

Everybody in California will benefit. More and better strains will result from Seed Companies and breeders sprouting up everywhere in the Golden State.

there won't be anymore "independent growers". you get 1 ounce. period.

this initiative is written by and for the cannabis clubs, not the users.

the average price per pound in cali dropped 1000 dollars over the past 12 months. without legalization. hmmmmmm, what if we give it another year?

decriminalization and the release of those already incarcerated for drug charges is the smart way to go.

we need to slow down a minute.

Unless I am mistaken, the limits under Prop 215 were struck down in the Courts. There is no reason to believe that this will be any different.

If the Initiative was written to benefit the clubs; what would prevent independent producers from forming clubs/co-ops designed to benefit independent growers?

city rulings prevent it right now. we can have 3. the surrounding cities are allowed none. why would this suddenly change?
