maybe cause the fan was pointed right at em, i dunno... but the humdity is back closer to 20% now without the fan. ive been following the directions on Mandala's website as far as watering is concerned.... waiting until the soil looks close to all dried up, then watering it thoroughly..this has turned out to be about once every 18 hours or so.
all seems well, im getting the veg room ready right now, and unplugging the heating pad. thanks again old man!

okay heres the rough idea for my veg room....

the walls are lined with panda, thats an 8 bulb 4ft t5, a small fan on the ground to push air in ( ill leave the door open a few inches, an oscillating fan in the right corner (you can just see the edge of it)...as for how the air is getting out, heres my idea so far:

there was a removable square panel in the ceiling of the closet that leads to an attic space which vents right out to the roof. propping it open with a couple of Ona blocks i created both an opening to the attic space and my odor control for the first few weeks of veg (planning to add a carbon filter). i secured a few layers of screen over the opening, and hung this box fan so its facing the hole, hopefully pulling hot air coming from the light up into the opening....we'll see. any thoughts? im thinking maybe an even bigger box fan than the one i have hanging now, and making some kind of different stand for the oscillating fan so it can point directly on the plants and not take up so much room....

I have an oscillating fan on my seedlings from the very first moment their heads stick up. There are a lot of people who would disagree, but it works for me and I don't seem to have any problem with plants not wanting to stand up and be strong.

I've done some experiments with soil and in my humble opinion, Fox Farm Ocean Forrest ($10.50 for a bag) is the schnizzle_old man talk for insanely great stuff. Just did a post today about miracle grow and root development.

Also, I add mycorrhizae ($11) and some bat guano (10-2-1) $10 to the soil in addition to pearlite. Then for the first 3~4 weeks only ph water_at room temp_is all they get in addition to light.

I've got a piece of window screen in front of my plants which shields them just enough from the wind of the fan. Like you I had heat and then humidity problems, the fan was a bit too much for the plants, but when I put the screen up it was just enough of a damper to keep the plants from being wind blown.

that's the 2nd or 3rd time someone has reccomended ocean forest, ill give it a whirl. man im considering myself blessed... 20/20 on this first germination attempt, with only two stragglers, which i can see but havent gathered up the strength to push their way topside yet. the rest are lookin aight, time to wait some more...

temp stabliized around 77f, humidity around 28%.. the stretching made a few string beans that have plopped over, but i fixed it and am ready to get toothpicks and string if needs be. 20/20 germination on the first attempt. with only one satori not breaking all the way through.... im satisfied. tweaking the veg room today, dont change that channel!

i didnt mean to make them yoga masters but some of them have twisted and stretched their skinny stalks three different ways toward the light hehe..they look funny, like super tall goofy pre teenage kids. i still love them though

close up of the straggler. come on you! ($$ straight down from that dollar sign you can barely see the bright green stem)

thanks for the encouragement... we'll need it along with a lotta luck since we're doing this in pretty much the whole spare bedroom/bath/closet of an apartment. risky, i know but FUCK EM. getting pots today to be ready for the first transplant.... as far as the next round of seeds, im thinkg about picking up some rockwool and starting themthere, then building my own really simple hydro system.. any suggestions? this is my first time growing, hence the first round in soil, but i have all the free time in the world and the soil doesnt require that much attention, plus if i have both going and one gets screwed o well.... what you guys think? i had in mind a simple homemade ebb n flow system. all feedback is greatly appreciated. i love it, look at where we are in evolution! i can have an idea, start a project, and then just walk over to my computer, put in a few words, and abra cadabra! hundreds of people around the world with the same idea can talk to me! its like we dont need our individual brains anymore, just always stay hooked up to the net. kinda scary actually, but cool nonetheless. okay ill shutup now, i told you had lots of free time!:joint:
mmm also starting a fungus production station soon, probably start off with some golden teachers. also thinking about ordering some rooted san pedro and keeping it indoors. anyone have experience with this?

Put up a security cam. See, you just get a grow started and peeps be messin with ya.

I tell ya, some people's children.

BTW, the plants are looking way better, IMHO. Not stretching for their food. Flouro's deff make for a real dark green plant. If you see someone with water headed for you plants.....stick 'em with a fork.
