what size magnifying glass should i use?

so i bought a magnifying glass that has the little bubble (zoom they call it) and it's 6x. not sure if that's good enough or not. i think they had a 15x one or something but it was like $30 :neutral:
 
i use a led handheld microscope that is 60x and it works great. was under $10 at dealextreme.com with free shipping. took about 3 weeks to ship though. can get it at radio shack for just a few more bucks and walk right out with it.
 
yah, six x is a lil on the small side if your trying to use it to see your trics with.. i know that radio shack has a nice hand held what they call a microscope that goes for like fifteen bucks.. it i sixty to one hundred x zoom, and it works great to check out your trics with.. it takes a lil getting used to using at first, but i think it does a killer job for the price..
 
yah, thats pretty much the one we are talking about from radio shack looks like except it doesn't say 420 on it, lol.. other than that, pretty much identicl.. good stuff, but like i said, a lil hard to use till you get used to it..
 
I just bought a 60x-100x with adjustable focus off ebay for about $8.00 with shipping. Has a LED. Works good, just hard to hold steady and focus unless you're on a flat surface.
 
i use a friggin cheap ass jewelers loupe you dont need anything crazy, i would imagine any "magnifying glass" would do the trick :) its not over complicated

that is exactly what i was trying to say about it being a lil hard to use till you get used to it.. it took me about a week or so till i was able to use it and not shake all over the place.. what i find works good for me is to kinda use the bud to rest on, like i will poke the top of a nug up into the lil hole in the bottom of the scope and use that to balance the scope on .. works pretty good..
 
damn that's unbelievable. i got the dumb 3x-6x magnifying glass for 8 bucks. i'll have to check out my local radio shack then. thx all. if it's like $25-$30 i'm gonna be pissed lol. minimum wage IS like 8.50 or something but..cali shouldn't be that much more damn expensive. i'll post the final price here when i get it :)
 
no shit, i just finally bought the thing from radio shack for 12.50
has some nice magnification but ya, still a little tough using it so far. awesome view when you get it right though lol.
 
ya but i can use the full 100x zoom just fine now. i gave up on trying to hold the thing against the plant and tried cutting a little sugary leaf off and it works like a charm. and nope, 400w club but i just added 3 45's for side lighting (red spectrum 450w equivalent). so bout 800w total.
 
i said that because i bought a 3x/6x magnifying glass for $10 and the 60x-100x microscope is only $2 more? who'dathunk. props to whoever recommended that one. you've already been +repped
