Too early to put out?

Started my autoflower grow last week - started them off indoors - 3 Big Buddha Auto and 3 Lowryder.

Coz I live in UK, and the weather and temp aint that great here, is it too early to put them out?

Also, coz its raining on and off at the mo, will this be a problem?

Any advice would be great as I'm eager to put them into bigger pots asap (as there is not really any room for 6 10" pots indoors where I am...!)

Your primary concerns are; Is it still freezing at night? Have your plants been hardened to go outside? To harden your plants, you start by putting them in direct sunlight for one hour, and then double the time outside until plants are out all day. After two or three days outside, and no night freezing, plants are ready to try an over night. Also, if they were started on a light cycle which is longer than the hours of daylight they will receive, you can cause them to flower early.When considering daylight hours, you must include dusk and dawn when light is just coming on, as plants still view this as light as well. If they do flower early, this will stunt them for a while as they become confused as days get longer. They will recover, however, and revert back to veg stage as summer light increases.

Hey, Thanks for getting back to me. I started them off indoors but not in my grow room, just next to the window as I realised they would need to be on the same light cycle as outdoor, so in that respect I think they should be ok.
It is not freezing at night - this week for example we got min of 4*C at night and daytime 15*C max and 9*C min - do you think this will be ok?
As for hardening - thanks a lot for that advice! However, my plants are still very much at seedling stage - would this also be a prob? They are 1 week old.
Any further advice would be great!

its not so much the lighting time that you want to slowly introduce it to being outdoors, but the actual sunlight, can kill indoor plants lol.
but yes you SHOULD be safe by now..
though check out your windows, maybe have a poke around first thing in the AM feel the ground, you determine that.

I put my plants out this weekend. Not so much out of choice, but out of necessity. You should be good in that temp range. I'd be more worried about the fact that they are only a week old. Seems like the odds of survival increase the older the plant is in my experience. Mine were 3 weeks old when I put them out and are doing quite well, even with all this rain we been having here in my neck of the woods.

Yea I was thinking it was too early to put them out but I want them to grow as big as they can as quick as they can! And since they only live for around 60 days I thought the sooner I put them into bigger pots the sooner they will grow up... Is this the wrong way of thinking about it then?

Well from my understanding bigger pots won't make them bigger per se. Now if they were in pots that were to small it will definitely slow growth and/or cause root bind. I see where you are coming from though. Honestly, if I was going to do a serious auto grow outdoors I'd wait until June to start them. That way they get the intense june/july sun rather than the weaker may/june sun. Or even wait til the end of june and get the intense july/august sun.

I was considering doing a large auto grow myself, but from what I've seen there is very little known about growing auto outdoors and the seeds are so expensive. It would be interesting to set up three grows. A may/june grow, a june/july grow and a july/august grow, and compare results. Maybe I'll try it next season if I have the time/money.

I have a single Low Girl auto from Advanced Seeds that I started about a week ago. It's in my journal in my signature. I'm going to give it another week or two inside then move it out to the woods. I have a Buddha White Dwarf fem auto, but I think I'm going to save it until I have my own place where I can do 100% indoors.

The Joint Doctor gives reletively detailed info on growing Lowryder outdoors and says it is an ideal strain for both indoor and outdoor, or indeed anywhere!! As for price, I don't belive they are any more or less expensive than some other strains and in fact I don't mind paying the extra for Autos due to the climate I am in. Makes sense to me for time and care etc based on what I can give atm.

I'm in the UK & I would give it another week or two or until the last frost has definatley been & gone but with our unpredicatble British weather that could be mid-August.. Using a Cloche would be a good idea as someone said above if you are in a hurry to put them outside

I'll have to check out the Joint Doctor website. I searched high and low on RIU and couldn't really find too much about growing them outside. Thanks for the heads up.

I never grew Buddha White Dwarf but read some really positive reviews about it.

This includes the Joint Doctor Grow Guide for Lowryder and should help you out a bit. For outdoor grow I don't actually follow exactly what is said coz im in UK. If you are too I advise to start off indoor, even if its next to the window. I got 8 Autos next to the window right now and they're doing great! Trying to work out when is "a good time" to put them outdoors but after research I think I'll do it next week sometime (2 half weeks old ish) and put them out gradually - a couple of hours to start then more and more over a few days till they're out all day. The white dwarf shouldnt be too disimilar to Lowryder so might be a good bet.
