just pics. tried to get a pic of where i topped it. its worked great. i also got a picture of the trunk of the tree. turns out that everytime i cut one of the bunt leaves a new branch would start. this plant, even though it my first, i believe will be very bushy

on the next day i said screw it and chopped off a bunch of leaves that were close to the middle and bottom of the plant. this is an experimental plant anyways if you remember cuz i still have the ak-47 seeds to mess with. i wanted to see what it would do to it.

i have been at this for about 3 hrs now uploading pics and copying my journal to this site. i will post more tomorrow and try and have it caught up to where i am now. the next 3 weeks are where the fun and problems begin. but like i said before that book (The Cannabis Grow Bible) was a life saver. so far this is about 3 months from seed. i blame the small size to that ufo. but i believe the ufo would be better for flowering. if you want to keep track of the small plant in the dirt and the ufo check out truex. i gave him the plant to keep. i had just wanted to see how miracle grow soil would affect it. burnt the crap out of it at first. truex though is makin it look pretty good. i also let him borrow the ufo to see how it would work on the flowering stage.

i did get a hps for flowering. i have been using it a few weeks. i just haven't got to posting that part yet. so in the end i will have used the ufo tested on the Hight Times website, a Cfl, and Hps. As far as vegging goes the Ufo sucks. Flowering may be a different story. And u can see how the Cfl worked. an immediate difference in growth. the coralife fixture is nice. has built in fans just like the ufo's do. its original purpose was to pull heat away from the fixture so the fishtank water doesn't get extremely hot. and as for the Hps. well we will get to that soon enough.

at this point i am getting tired of vegin this thing. since it was my first plant i wasn't sure if it was ready to flower, but my patience has run out and i want to know if its a male or female i have spent the past 3 months on. so i went to my local hydro and soil store and bought a 150watt hps for a hundred bucks to switch out with my 96watt 6700k compact. i switched em out and put the hps 12 inches above the plant. still kept the light on 18/6 schedual.

i noticed over the past several days the plant was really sucking up the water in the 2.5 gallon bucket. i was having to add water everyother day and ph was always changing. also light was leaking through the white surface of the bucket causing algae which from experience on fishtanks i know is no fun and hard to get rid of. so i decided to upgrade to a 5 gallon bucket to try and solve this problem before i started flowering. i drilled 4 holes in the bucket, ran all 4 lines from the 4way 170gallon air pump, 4 cheap airstones. as far as nutes go, i increased the amount and added a little bloom. to the 5 gallons of water (which i always let set out for 24 hrs to evaporate chlorine), i added
5- 1/4 tsp micro
7- 1/4 tsp grow
2- 1/4 tsp bloom
i then took the ph down to around 6.
i am goin to wait till tomorrow to c if its to much and causes nutrient burn before starting the flowering light cycle. i also bought a sample pack of clonex for 5 dollars at the store. i cut off a small branch, stuck it in the gel, and inserted that into a presoaked rockwool cube. heard they worked good. i then put the the cutting/cube into a tall tupperware container with lid. crossed my fingers, hoped for the best.

Plant looks good and clone lookes no different. i didn't know how tall this plant would get but from reading the book it said it would double if not tripple in size.. the plant is only 7 inches tall so im not to worried considering my box is 4 ft tall. however factoring the the hight of the bucket and the heat put off from the light, i figured i would try to train the two top cola's downward by loosely tieing them with fishing string and taping that to the side of the box. sounded good anyways. i turned the light off at 8pm and locked thebox.

its now 4pm, 46 hrs later. i unlocked the box, opened it up and turned the timer on (now set to 12/12). waited for hps to get fully lit and to my amazement the plant looks awesome. there are new leaves all over this thing. could not believe it. unfortunatley i didn't take pictures because in my excitement of what was before me i wanted to see how the root mass looked. so i lifted the lid and heard a SNAP. and knew instantly what i had done. I forgot to untape the damn strings on the top 2 colas. i lowered the lid and it looked like a wishbone split. there on the side of my box dangling by a string was the top right cola. the other was intact but stripped of half of the new leaves . i cussed myself left and right. could not believe i pulled some dumb ass shit like that. the center stalk was also split. i grabbed the string and wrapped it snuggly around it to try and make it grow back together and not die. one top is better than none i thought. however i was so sick with it i didn't take pictures.

:leaf: good news and bad. the plant is ok. its going to live and new leaves have appeared on the only remaining top. the bad news is that for some reason i am getting light brown spots around the middle veins of the lower and middle leaves. i have no idea as to what is causing it so i checked my book and it said maganese deficiency if i remember right. the plant is growin alot faster now so i changed the water. in the bucket of fresh water i put
7- 1/4 tsp micro
7-1/4 tsp grow
8- 1/4 tsp bloom

and hoped it wasn't much..

the problem with the brown spots were solved with the last water change. today i changed the water again with the same amount of nutrients

Today is an exciting day. all my patience and work have paid off. the bagseed that i planted long ago has given me a female plant. i looked in my book and at lots of other post to make sure that what i was looking at where indeed flowers. little white hairs where showing up all over.

the plant is soaking up massive amounts of water now. and it has almost trippled in size. this thing is gettin big fast. i can't believe its finally starting to turn out good. if it wasn't for the flowers a week ago i would have been ready to trash it and restart with the ak-47 seeds. but now, who cares about them. i can start those some other day. also my clone is doing good. it has its own 2.5 gallon hydro bucket now. i am going to make it a mother plant now that know how easy it is to clone and its guaranteed female. seeds take forever compared to a clone. the orange bucket is however leaking light and the algae problem is showing up. i remade the resevore. i went to a local store and bought a flat storage container that said 8 gallons on it. along with a roll of white duck tape and black. put 4 holes in it, ran air tube, upgraded to 4 much better rectangular airstones that makes a curtain of tiny bubbles. i completely taped the outside of this tub and lid black. (it was clear, couldn't find a colored one of that size) then i retaped it white to help reflect light. then remade my nutrient solution. The container said 8 gallons but it holds ten gallons of water easily. the plant hasn't been lookin very perky the past couple days and i noticed those brown spots again... so i went to the local hydro store and asked him what to do. i told him what i was using (general hydroponics flora series) and he gave me a free bottle of Kool Bloom by general hydroponics. This was mainly because i he told me about a project he was working on and i gave him free cutting disk to make the job easier. i get em for nothin at work. anyways he told me that i could get rid of the grow nutrients and to just use the micro, bloom, and kool bloom. i decided to keep the floragrow for one more week. here is what i mixed to ten gallons
10- 1/2 tsp micro
10- 1/2 tsp grow
10- 1/2 tsp bloom
5-1/2 tsp kool bloom
it seemed like alot to me but that thing is growing fast. actually it is 20 inches tall now. it grew 14 inches in 20 days. 3 times its size since flowering. hope it doesn't burn it

ok. well it took some time but i got my journal posted. i may have forgeten some details. if so ask. i would also like some opinions on what yall think. this is my first plant but not my last. i learned alot so far. the plant is reacting great to the major increase of nutrients. didn't think it would, but i am proven wrong. there are little white hairs all over this thing. i am excited. my clone is starting to really take off now. i will get pictures before the weekend is over. i hope the plant doesn't get too much taller. i am goin to keep this updated till its all over. so keep checkin this page out and i am open to any suggestions, or comments. do you think i will at least get close to an ounce off this thing. i have no idea how much a plant of this size (or any size) will yield.

Honey??? really. never woulda guessed. well i am definatley going to be more careful from now on. at the time i was sure it was 4 months work down the drain. i can't believe i originally was going to try and put 4 plants in there. seems like there wouldn't be enough room. the box is about 27 inches deep, 21 wide, and 48 tall. that one plant takes up alot of space.
