its basically up to the lighting cycle that allows a pplant to flower.. Of course its got to mature a little first but i have a 6 inch ak that has fat nugs (for its size) but 12 hours or more of darkness usually triggers flowering

Really u can send a plant directly from a sprout str8 to 12\12 and it will go right into flowering. You will hardly get anything out of it but u will get bud....won't even be that potent....

Thats not completely true, The plant still needs to veg long enough for it to sexually mature and start actual flowering. So they technically do go through veg.

I have seen some pretty big 12/12 from seed plants
It just depends on the strain
darkdestruction420 is right, they do have a veg period, and I hear it usually is 3-4 weeks
