California may legalize cannabis

On November 2nd, 2010, there is going to be a vote, by california citizens to legalize marijuana use. Up to 2 oz in public, and you may grow 25 square feet. And i think you have to be 21. I might end up going to grad school in cali.

So far the powers that be say there isn't enough support to actually pass it.

Most people I know are voting 'no' to keep the price high. 5500/lb would go to ~3000/lb if it legalizes from what I understand.

It all comes down to how they market it during the campaign. They need to focus on budget deficits and portray people losing their jobs and going home to their families with children. California is hurting right now and this could be their ticket.

Bud will be legal one day, but it may take another civil war or too, the campaign of "Potheads against America". We'd win, cause we'd get all the non-smokers stoned, and then being it most of their first times, they wouldn't be able to function so we just slap a legalize marijauna sticker on their back and move on to the next. Ow could it make it worse? Because all the people making money saling medical cannabis won't make as much any more? Because everyone will be stealing from there neighbors crop instead of growing their own? Think of this, you want a tree for your yard, you go to Lowes, Menards, or your local nursery and pick it up. Well, and after some time of course, you would prob be able to do something similar with weed. In time of course.

This may lessen the profitability of those currently dealing in it. But it should spread that profitability around to many people. Weed is a weed, and it shouldn't cost more than our non-renewable resources, so if its over money that it won't be passed, that idea needs to be flushed.

If you have another reason why it won't pass aside from what I mentioned, please share.

If any election ever was rigged, stolen, or bought I bet it would be this measure...and I mean by the prohibitionists and the Feds. It would not surprise me if the results for the measure have already been created and ready to be reported.
If it looses, we get the real numbers. If it wins, I would not be surprised if it is reported as a loss. Back room deals and $ exchanges, and Cali is so broke I can see the Feds buying this from them.

I agree with mygirls, I think complete legalization is just gonna fuck medical marijuana patents out of being allowed to grow their own meds cuz if it gets legalized one of the main reasons for the govt. allowing it become legal will be because they want to make money from it so they will probly sell it in stores and stop people from being able to grow their own.

No one has ever put a stop to home-brewed beer, so I fail to see how they're going to put a stop to home-grown weed, once legalization occurs, if it does indeed occur. Of course, there is a bit of a precedence with still-produced alcohol, but alcohol is to beer like opium is to weed, IMO. Sure, you don't want just anyone making their own opium or liquor, but what's wrong with people making their own beer and/or weed? Plenty of people would still buy billions of dollars worth of commercially grown MJ that they bought in authorized locations, legally. Those of us who enjoy and are well-versed in growing our own would still do so without creating much of a dent in the commercial market.
